well it was kinda a sad day today. sold my 53 handyman wagon today and it was hard loading it on the trailer and watching it leave.
had a wealthy guy bother me for months for a price and i threw him one not realy wanting to sell. but he pulled up with his trailer and it was hard to let her go but on to another project. so i gess i made a good profit. so does every car have a price??
has anyone else sold one they realy didn't want to but set a price.

looking for 55 or 56 chevy wagon.

Not "almost"...every car has its price...some are stupid prices, some are prices you'd be stupid not to pass...and not only cars have a price...but everything has a price...you just need to find the person that'll pay it.

Did it with a new Harley several years ago, some guy popped up about wanting to buy it, so I threw a stupid price out. He shows up at my work the next day with a load of cash to take it home. I guess I'm different in that everything I own goes from being Saltines to just plain crackers REALLY quick. Make a little and go look for the next one.........

Happened to the last 2 I had. Both of them somebody came up and convinced me ($$$) I did want to sell. Bad case of sellers remorse on the 32, the 52 not so much. Nothing gets you over the pain like buying a new project, in my case a 40 Tudor. Guess cars are like women, you know, nothing like a new squeeze to get over the old squeeze!

It's not so much the selling. It's the regrets that will or could follow. There's a lot of threads on the HAMB from guys looking for a car they sold. Some folks can buy and sell without a blink. I have a friend who had a numbers matching, factory A/C, loaded, big block '68 SS Camaro. A guy walked up at a show and asked if it was for sale. My bud told him $50K and laughed. A few hours later, the guy showed up with the CASH. So, he sold it. Made a nice profit and moved on. Didn't blink an eye. Some guys have it that way. Everybody said he shouldn't have, but everyone was eyeballin' those stacks of $100 bills sitting on a folding chair too.

your right tfeverfred, i'm shure i'll be kicking my self in the ass some day. the warm feel of stacks of $100.00 bills will wear off eventually.
the main regret was i was going to drive her to hamb drags this year, or at least try to.

  13. Most everything I own is for sale. However, I worked with my Dad to build his T bucket and then inherited it. Its not for sale.

he's lucky hotrodfrank that i didn't get to drive it or he probably wouldn't have got a price out of me. he bought it as a roller, he saw me loading it up on my trailer in town and just kept on me from then.

I regrettably sold my 56 Nomad because the "price was right" at the time. More recently,I sold my 26 T roadster for the same reason. If you play your cards right, you can garner enough profit to build something else with your profit, and come out money ahead. In every case, I've managed to make money from each sale;....and built something even better! You either want the money more than the vehicle or vice versa. Good Luck!

My T is as much a part of me as is my right arm, and I wouldn't be sellin' that at ANY price! The way I see it is... I built her for the experience, to drive and enjoy...not to sell.

Everything has a price, does'nt mean its for sale. I have a 56 F100 that fits this. Will go to my daughter when I'm gone. Which means I no longer own it. Hope this makes sense. There was a long thread about this in the last month.

For the most part, if I currently own it, it's not for sale. But start offering more cash than it's worth, and some of them would go. A couple of them would take WAY stupid money for me to part with. I'm talking the kind of cash that is life changing, because my selling them would be life changing to me.

    I agree ...
Most cars do have a price
    :)

While I have no plans to sell either of my Deuces ...
Enough one hundred dollars bills do have a way of changing my mind.

BUT ... It would have to be a ... BIG STACK ... :D

The 3W coupe is worth more money than the roadster ... BUT it would require more money to buy the roadster than the 3W. I have just owned the roadster SO LONG ... it would be very difficult to part with it. Not as difficult ... for the 3W ;)

I call bullshit on anybody that would turn down STUPID money. There are guys out there that will pay premo prices if they think your ride is cool enough for their deep pockets... No shame these guys, and tomorrow after they buy it they will be telling stories on how they built it...

If someone showed upon my door step with a pile of 100's wanting to buy my car and I had no sentimental attachments to the car, I'd be a car short and a whole lot richer. only exception is my old willys

I have n uncle that's fond of the 1st series 55 Chevy trucks. He has rebuilt 2 or 3 of them. The last one he did was his daily driver. Had a guy stop in his work one day and ask how much he wanted for it, and my uncle explained that it wasn't for sale. This went on for about a month, and one day the guy showed up at his home. He explained that he got his address from a guy at his work, and really wanted to buy his truck. My uncle, annoyed, named an "absurd" price, thinking he would go away. The man agreed and paid him right there. My uncle kept his word and let the truck go. To this day, my uncle still won't say how much he got for it. My aunt doesn't even know.

If I own it it is for sale...want my house? Let me know, I'll start packing tonight...unless you want the furniture also.

I buy and sell so I don't think twice. My dad was a car dealer since the early 70's so I watched and learned. Can't buy the next one if I keep them all.

My dad has owned a really nice 56 T-bird since 83 that he would always say; "This will be yours when I'm gone"....

He passed away from a heart attack this Dec (on his birthday of all things), and I don't care what you lay on the table, his car's not for sale. I'll live in it first...don't think I wont.

I thought this could not be bought. Just like the rest of ya. Sentimental value, love affair, built it yourself, lay under it more than your wifey, whatever. I owned it for 25yrs. It has a price when someone waves the green under your nose. You just don't know it yet.:) Next.......?
