That sucks the big one. Always strap things down though, I once had an entire cook stove blow out of the back of my truck. I learned the hard way too

I gotta agree,...him sitting on that shop stool with the welding gear makes the cab look like a miniture.

On the positive side the build experience he has now will not be lost.

Jeff I think I may be able to help. I'm in NY about 90 minutes away if your brother is in Buffalo. I know of a couple cabs- They're rough but if he likes the challenge we may be able to scab a couple donors into one to replace his. I'll PM you with some details.

    Damn, son.

Hate to see your bro throw all that work away. Could it be saved with a new cowl and a donor roof? Or would it be easier in the long run to start over?

Thanks guys for the replys. Currently we are looking for another cab or at least I am. I appreciate all the tips on cabs for sale. I talked to my brother tonight and he said if there was a chance of making it a RPU he would jump on it. He just does not se that happening. With all your help I am sure we'll come up with something.

Thanks again, I am sure my brother appreciates the support!

Wow, what a suckfest! Your brother is a hell of a nice guy. I hate so much to hear that happened. Especially after the work you guys did. I'm sure it's a much bigger sinking feeling to have that happen after the heart and soul went into it along with the excitement of it beginning to take shape.

I know the last thing he wants to hear is "shoulda strapped it down", although that seems to be a popular post in this thread. When I started reading the first page, I was looking at the pics thinking WTF? The cab isn't smashed, I mean it's not perfect but not what I would call smashed at all. When I saw the progress pics, I was getting excited. When I saw the bad pic, my heart sank. Sorry fellas.

    It'll rub out?
Y'all get that baby back together you'll be immortal put the portapower to it and heat the bends with a torch to relieve the work hardening. this 55 chevy pu looked like that once. doors glass and other sheetmetal was replaced but the cowl roof and doorframes were badly mangled. I got it functional from the guy that saved it and gound alot of the bondo out, drilled the spotwelds out in alot of places to take off damaged panels to get at blind areas and straigtened it out more to get the doors ajusted back when I was 17.

I feel your pain. A buddy hauled my 40 Willys coupe from Alabama to Florida. When he got here the original steel trunk lid was missing. Somewhere along I-75 it blew off. I'm still sick.

Its metal- it can be saved. Hell, it honestly looks like a better foundation that what he started with. And like's been said before- the story he'd have when he finished the truck would be priceless.
