really ghey!! is that what sick is?? he wants a car to look sick..hmmmmmm i thought we used to take sick cars and make them look good..now you take a good car and make it look sick..somebody straighten me out. i'm confused.
the green one if ya want to keep the four doors, the two door conversion was done back in the day and looks Kool.....Roach.
2 door would be cool........ guess some people dont know about modern terms like sick..... guy must be one of those old timers that dont like to try somthin different..... just lookin to do somthin as a change how many shoeboxes out there all chopped lookin the same wanted somthin dif but still lookin (sick)
Any four door anything with the roof cut off is going to have all kinds of structural "issues", quite aside from the fact that you will de-value the car horrifically.
This is a traditional hot rod and custom site. We don't need "modern terms" and we don't need to try "somethin" different. The point with traditional is that it has been done before. Neal
I had a 64 Sedan De Ville that we cut the roof off and had an instant convertable. When we turned right, the left hand doors would open and then close after you straightened out. Itr took alot not to grab for the door an just sit there while it happened. Real nice low mile car in New Mexico. Thinking back on that one kinda makes me sick. zatwotchumean?
some people on here are fckn clowns with this traditional etc etc...... AIR BAGS ARE NOT TRADITIONAL........ so that my freinds.... counts for over half the cars on here..... that is what gives this site a bad name when you mention it to alot of people.... its the clowns that cant look outside the box every now and then.... i like the site .... its great.... but some people need to relax.... anyways this was not about those idiots but about tryin to cee if the car would look good period.. all the traditional people dont post on it .. you probably have a traditional car with AIR BAGS.....
cutting the roof off a 4 door is never an improvement. why not just call the scrap yard today rather than go through all that work and have it end up scrapped in the end anyways??
I dashed this off real quick last night (the site was REAL slow!) and did not take the opportunity to elaborate, so... I suicided the rear doors to put hinges in a stronger spot (ala early '60s Lincolns) because, as many have mentioned the structural integrety will be shot. A lot of re-inforcing would have to be done to keep the car from folding in half. I do think it's kind of cool if you are prepared to do it properly. I only made it green so it would show better against the background. Good luck with your project - whatever you decide! -Dave
go away. We've had the airbag discussion before, and making a statement that over half of the cars on the hamb are bagged just proves your ignorance. We've had the traditional discussion before. Perhaps what "gives the site a bad name when you mention it to alot of people" are the garbage threads about things like "should I cut the roof off of my 4 door and make sheet metal seats" threads? Gimme a fuckin break. You ask a question on this board, then get your panties in a bunch when people tell you that it would look like ass and that it isn't traditional. Why don't you ask your question over at the Old Skool Rodz forums? I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to suck your dick over there, and tell you how "sick" it would be... As for an answer to your "would it look good period" question...no, it wouldn't.
Well, I thought it would look nice as a two door roadster...but what do I know. Throw a carson top on it and guess what? It'll look like quite a few "traditional" customs. Huh. As far as traditional, the problem wasn't the car at first, it was his "terminology"...seems that getting bitchy about how someone talks is kinda weak. Getting on someone about how their ride isn't traditional I can understand, but going after their vocabulary is just rude and without merit. Granted, I don't care for the term either, but it's a big world out there.
I'm SICK of it also, And by the way , can't the other people on the other sites that use the word SICK do a free photo shop picture for ya ?
the last pic looks good thanks... aawwww hudsoncustom has his panties in a bunch .... what a d*ckhead..... just wanted to scre around and cee what could come out of a perfect rust free 4 door instead of throwing it away.. and keep some good old iron alive at the end of the day d*ckhead hudson isint that what its all about... and you can make it like the continentials ive got a 66 bagged hardtop and a vert bagged thats how you would have to build it
Must be troll night on the HAMB. Am I the only guy who instantly thought of the scene in "Smokey & The Bandit" where Buford drives under the I-beam and slices the top off his LeMans patrol car, when I saw that green rendering? "Duck, or you're going to be talking out of your ass!" it's too late for the OP, maybe. No offense to the guy who made it up, but a 4-door with the top cut off and the windshield cut way down, is always going to look like a 4-door with the top cut off. There are plenty of ways to keep a "perfect rust-free 4 door" "alive" without ruining it, you could just as easily find someone who'd be happy to roll it as-is. Would take some effort, though.
Be better than your detractor, don't let your response paint you as just as much of an ass as those who drove you to it. Take the time to build your roadster and show us that it can be done as a nice and tasteful custom...THAT would be the best revenge.
