I got on a roll back in the late 70s early 80s and did several cars in GMC Wheatland Yellow. Then did a repeat when I did the NSRA 30 Ford RPU giveaway truck for 04. All of them had some shade of red interior.

I had a new Camaro in '67 that was Butternut Yellow. The color code was "YY" for cars without vinyl tops. Cars with vinyl tops had "Y" as the code followed by the vinyl top trim code instead of the second "Y"

I always like that pearl yellow Mitsubishi had on some of their models some years back, like on the 3000 GT. Not super yellow, but they all looked like Himsl painted them!

Volkswagon Rally Yellow (1980s) is brighter than the Corvette yellow. Doesn't have the green tint like the Corvette.

Commonly referred to as Ferrari Fly Yellow

    It's a very strong yellow.

Thanks for doing this thread. I have been looking for a yellow that would look 50's on my 40 Ford pickup. Maybe with a white interior or a creamy white. Got a couple ideas now.

OT Boat... Early vintage Wooster Hellion built in the Rubbermaid factory in Wooster Ohio before it burned down. Done up in "Moon" yellow.

I took the big "Moon" sticker to my paint store and asked if they could match it. They ended up having to order a color base in an intense yellow color and then mixed it straight up with no additional toners.

It doesn't quite match the ink on the sticker, but it is close and I like it.

PS: It looks way closer to the first shot in person...

Golden Age Gee Bee Z Yellow, isn't the most yellow but to me it's the prettiest! Especially with red/brown pin stripe between the yellow and black. Interestingly enough this is a rendition as no photos are known to exist of the real paint scheme ................

This is one I had in high school, right after it came out of the booth. It was 76 Corvette yellow, the brightest yellow i could find at the time.

I too had a hard time picking a good yellow for my 34 coupe. The mid 70s corvette yellow has a tint of green in it and all of the late model colors are more muted. Very different seeing a newer yellow mustang and looking at the paint on a test panel. I chose chrome yellow from ppg which is a straight toner with nothing added. I don't have the number it has been a while. I used acrylic urethane and it is very transparent, with a light gray primer or sealer the final color has a green tint. I had to use a white epoxy sealer to get the yellow to stay yellow. Opening the can under flourescent lights in the garage and it looked peach. Here is my frame, not bad for a garage paint job eh?
