W0W i like it very cool nicely done

drove some B's we had at work they had millions of miles DuPont rebuild as we called them with body and paint job they looked and were well maintained

Stordahl Truck Lines ran these old B's from the Twin Cities to Northern Minnesota and Canada

not sure if Penner took over Stordahl

Awesome job and build there guys! I LOVE it!! Can't wait to see it done. (subscribed)

Nice to see yet another large-scale hot-rod under way.

I'm going to post a build of mine in the next few weeks too.

  5. Great project!! I used to work at a Mack dealer so I have a soft spot for them.

The 466 will be a great engine, the auto trans is a nice touch too.

Its not nice when our best friends (Winston) start to get a bit slower.

Man that is sweet!! And I can't believe nobody else has said it, but - I think Red Sovine would be proud of this truck! I can't be the only one who caught the Phantom 309 reference, lol - esp since I'm just shy of 26yo here... Subscribed for sure, can't wait for more progress pics

great looking Mack, you guys do good, clean work.

what's the deal with Winston's back legs? My current bulldog is a jumper, and his knee's are shot, was wondering if Winston had the same problem.

    (sorry a bit O/T)

Here's a link to the song about Phantom 309
It's actually more of a story than a song.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EAZlArfDOw

It came out in the mid sixties so I always assumed "Big Joe" would have been driving a B model.

When we were trying to come up with a name for our 409 powered race car Phantom 309 came to mind. We just changed it to Phantom 409 to match the engine of the car.

A good friend of ours did the sign painting and put Winston's Racing Team on the trunk.

So later, when we got Jeff Norwell to do a cartoonized version of the car he also did a "Winston" logo.

So right now the plan is to use the Winston logo on the doors but we may put Phantom 309 on there somewhere too.

I really like the art deco styling of the grill and bulldog on these old Macks.

Winston was born with a spine problem but it's only started to really show up in the last couple of years. He gets around OK but he drags his feet so he has to stay off the pavement and shop floor as much as possible.
He's hanging in there and doing fine though.
He even has a set of wheels but he really doesn't need them unless he's going for a walk on the pavement.

We gave some of the fire related stuff away but I don't think there's actually much market for the stuff unless it happened to be in near perfect shape.
The truck sat outside long enough that all the chrome parts were pitted.
The pump itself is mostly solid brass and it must weigh at least 500 lbs but unfortunately I think it's probably only worth scrap value because it was left to freeze at some time.

This is probably the coolest tow rig i have ever seen! I can't wait to see this thing all in paint and complete! This one is gonna have to be subscribed to!

I don't have remotely the talent to build a truck like that, but that is exactly what I've had in mind for a '61 - '73 Dodge D500 or D600 firetruck, if I could ever find one!

That is a beautiful tow rig, and it has enough civility with that drivetrain where you can drive it daily and not break the bank. This gives me so many ideas, now I just have to find a truck.

The kitchen sink floor cover is a great idea. What seats are you planning to use? Are you going with the stockers, or a newer set of air-rides, or something else?

I can not wait to see this rig completed!
