Damn this turns me on. I grew up with these babies. Here is a pic of dad's last rail in the mid/late '60's (Chassis Research):

My great-grandfather built racing engines from the 1940's 'til the early 1980's.

Here is my ride (it never got out of my blood):

Everything you see here I built myself EXCEPT the chassis. I built the engine, Powerglide, 9" Ford rear, plumbing, wiring, etc. in Dad's shop (that's one bay of his shop the last pic).

I have some bare chassis pic's somewhere I'll post in the spirit of this thread.

    Great thread, dudes!

The arch in the frame is as you suggested, a matter of having built a few of these cars and knowing what is needed as per engine weight and position.

    Hey Keith,
as regards the frame "arch",do you build yours with a twist (l/f dwn-r/r dwn) to preload the right rear or just the arch f-r?

This is the newest dragster that I have been workin on. It is for the team of Seavers and Havery out of Sacremento CA. Small chevy and glide. It is a cross between my 1963King and my 1966 Legal King. Next is the shorty aluminum body. Then out to Cali. it goes. KING

while i lived in San Rafael CA i purchased anold dragster i found it stored in a dump in Inverness CA
i had to use my wrecker ti winch it and the traylor over a pile of cars
got it home was looking at what i was going to do but i could not get my big carcus in it
told my friend i was thinking of selling it he told Vern Tardel in Petaluma he bought it

several years later my frend Bob was asking about it he told me that it belonged to Ted Gotelis and Dennis Malani drove it it was the first dragster to do 200 MPH at Half Moon Bay
Bobs dad they called Lem was a member of the pit crew The Organ Grinders of San Fransisco
    Sorry i never took Pic's

Here is one from the 50's I really beleive there is a good chance that this is an experimental Bilbow/Lynnwood Chassis. Bob Bilbow was unable to confirm it. But wasn't too quick to deny it either. This belongs to my Brother in Law. He found it in a guys back yard across from my Dads garage. It was owned by two Waynesboro, VA locals in the early 60's. Only 2 original photos exist so far.
As soon as I finish my B Altered truck I am going to start on this one. Should be a good piece when it's done.

Well the only thing we found was the frame and rear end and only because that is welded in. The frontend is just a mock up. It originally had a 32 front axle. He has one for it.
My B.I.L. is still gathering pieces to match it to the photos. So.. not much use in leaving it "as is"

Here is one I just finished for the team of Seavers and Havery out of Sacremento CA.
This is a borrowed set of wheels and tires. Theirs are going to be back spaced alittle more to hug the body better. This will be a Jr. Fuel inspired ride.
