Hello mrrich, these cars are beyond cool! Can you recommend a friendly local garage for advice on my Dart, going super stock route. Oh, where do all the cool cars hang out in town? Maple Leaf resident 40 years.
Sure. Pm me but I don't hang out much. I can probably point you in the right direction on the Dart though.
OK Guys ... here is another pix of my AWB Mopar. This is from 1966 and yours truly behind the wheel. For you guys arguing about what is and what "is not" an AWB car....let me tell you ... This picture is an AWB car.... 26 inch engine setback, 15 inch Rear Wheel forward, Front Straight axle moved 10 inches forward, full aluminum interior, Plexiglass front windshield, Hilborns on Nitromethane and alcohol mix, etc, etc.... I built this car 100% myself in the garage behind my speed shop when I was 23 years old...
While not an altered, a factory A-990 that took me three seperate cars to put back together, for a customer of Bob Mosher. Thought it be neat to compare the two different "Goldfingers". Dale
looks nice, are you putting the hand and pointing finger on it,Goldfinger was another common name for a drag car
Not sure why it was left off. I'll ask Bob the reason why. I had not seen the car for several month's after I returned it from being taken aprt, and rebuilt, so a couple days ago was the first time I've laid eyes on it. http://public.fotki.com/bowtie0069/shop-projects-1/a990-mopar/ http://www.moparsbymosher.com/ Under projects section on Moshers site.
Here's a local one from years back. Looking for more photos of this car, help. Buddy Crouch, Irvine, KY. Plus a couple of others.
Cool '66 Dart, 35touring, thanks! The Colonel looks like that's a recent photo; so is that a restoration?
Hey Storm King, don't forget to keep me updated on your Dart project. Wish I had more photos of that one pictured but it's the only one I have.
Another old local A/FX IM looking for photos of is Stan Byrd's "Plymouth A Go-Go" anyone have a photo?
Funnycar65, that was quick! thanks. Post more if you find any. IM working on a reunion for area racers later this year. I want to feature our racers from the past that have passed on.
Steve Magnante's book is now avalible, I just ordered my copy. How to Build Altered Wheelbase Cars by Steve Magnante http://www.cartechbooks.com/vstore/showdetl.cfm?DID=6&Product_ID=3856&CATID=19
February issue of Muscle Car Review just out and it has a nice article on the Flatlander Fling event that has some nice pictures of the restored Golden Commandos and Honker Dodge altered wheel base cars. It was neat to see the cars actually taking some 60 foot bursts down the drag strip mike galewski
with plenty of vintage altered wheelbase race car photos taken at Lions, Irwindale and Fontana drag strips by fellow HAMBer........me!!!
I'm looking for any pictures of a Black awb alum front end mopar. It had the name WildThing painted on it.It was a injected hemi 4 speed car and was based out of the Champaign-Urbana area. Thanks for any and all help.
Uuuuhhhhhh, look, we all like gassers, but first, this is a thread about altered wheelbase cars from the mid 1960's, not gassers. Also, the photo that you posted is not a gasser, it's an altered. Soooo, read and learn...
