Art & Inspiration The Photoshop thread to end all Photoshop Threads!

  1. SDhotrod-

I missed your post back there a couple pages ago. Didn't mean to step on you there, but it sounds like you've got a grip on the situation.

But maybe it would be worth mentioning a bit about saving multiple paths. It's kind of like saving multiple layers, only different. Paths and shapes (closed paths) can be used for different purposes, and they can be time consuming to make, so you might want to keep them around until you're finished with a project.

Start by clicking on the Paths tab on the Palette. What opens up below looks a lot like the Layers Palette and it sort of works in the same way. Select the Pen tool and layout your Path or Shape as desired. Then before you start laying out your next path, click the button at the bottom of the Palette that says Create New Path and you'll see a new thumbnail view appear in the body of the Palette, just like adding a new Layer.

Make your new Path or Shape and save it seperately from your previous work. Then you can click next to the thumbnail to activate whichever Path or Shape you want to use. It can be very handy to be able to recall and reuse the Paths later on, especially if you've muffed something up and need to start over.

Or does that only happen to me?

You didn't step on me there at all dude! I will take all the tips, tricks and help I can get.

That's good advice to save the paths just like you do layers. I just need someone to stand beside me and hit me over the head with a ball peen hammer, reminding me to save my file/work as I go!
Gosh, there just ain't no better feeling than working on a project for hours, "muffing" if up, then realizing that you have to start all over again because your layers of paths aren't there....

...or having your PC get the Bill Gates trots and lose everything because you forget to save every once in awhile while you're drawing!:p

  4. Umm... no I didn´t, but if we both think you need it, then it must be true.:D

That rear fender trick is going to be worth the effort too, if you decide to do it.

    Thanks electrodude.

No payment, be it quarters or narcotics required. A chocolate chip cookie would be nice though...;)

SD cookies my wife can do, if you want to trust the UPS guy just send me a PM with address-can do. As for the other thing, I haven't touched that crap in YEARS, like almost 20. I got the screen name from Dimebag Darryl Abbot, guitarist for the metal band Pantera, me personally, I dont even drink anymore. SD it looks perfect, could I convince you to skirt the car, and if I send you a couple of pics, would you be willing to design the roof, hood & trunk. This desing is way too cool not to go with, but I would need the final pics to scale off, and to make the car a complete package. The work you do is absolutely awesome, and thanks a million times, and I am serious about the cookies-just let me know. Thanks again Bro!!!!

Oooops, forgot to ad the skirts. I'll get to work on that.

Thanks for the offer of the cookies, but if I accepted I'd need to punch a new hole in my belt.;)

Do you have pictures of the hood and trunk? If so I can try and do something up on those too.
I did "borrow" the design of the scallops for the rear fender from Larry Watson's Grapevine, minus the small scallops on the top of the fender.

Here is another Watson design we could use for the trunk.(I think it's a Watson car...) Or I can make something up.

And a pic of the same car that I got inspiration from for the roof scallops.

I've only done about 2 of these wacky Watson scallops Photoshop jobs. So, keep in mind that I'm just a hack!

Hey SD Im gonna call bullshit on you, you are definitely not a hack, you have been more than helpful and filled all of my requests to a T, and if people don't say it enough I have to say THANKS for all the help you guys provide. I will send you the few pics I have before the camera died, I will PM you my email-should be easier to get pics, or if you prefer I can upload through the HAMB. Please let me know & I'm serious about the cookies-I just need an address to send them off. Thanks again for all the help, and if you make it out to the Chicagoland area let me know. I think I might owe you a beer or Coke whatever you prefer!!!!!

Does any one want to give the Fish some paint? James D already gave it some kick ass scallops. I would like to see some period lowrider paint. Nothing too crazy though. I like the Winfield style fades, panels, lace, and flake. I know I'm going to use green, but other than that I don't know what to do. I am including some other pictures for inspiration. I hope the lighting in the picture isn't going to make things difficult. If so let me know and I'll take a better pic.

    Thanks:cool:

How about turning this into a pick up? with a sport coupe type roof (but foldable)... And maybe a set of milk truck wheels on black walls, chop it, lower it a bit, and add a little to the hood to fit a straight 6 in there... It's a '26 Willys whippet, best pic I could find... I was thinking if you could do color too british racing green, deep maroon, or battle ship grey... or maybe a dark blue..

    Thanks!
    Bobby

  17. LOL! Nice save. I knew that cat was still lurking around here somewhere. She does a great job of keeping the vermin out of the forums, but sometimes she leaves footy-prints on the hoods. Did we ever know her by name?

What's the deal with the cat?
If you're going to run over a cat, it's on topic? :p:eek:

She belonged to Hooligan63, I don't think she's with us anymore, except here in photoshop land...

Not that cat, you wouldn't find any friends in this thread!:p She's our official photoshop cat...like some real shops have cats or dogs for mascots? We've got her. If you're truly interested in the backstory, go to page 53 and work your way forward for a few pages:D

    Will do, thanks.
I started at the beginning, but with 150+ pages, I glanced over a lot of text to get to the altered photographs.

    thanks,
    Craig

  21. I love these too. I suppose they´re horribly expensive?
    Doesn´t need much doing IMHO.
