i'm not upset so why are you? just a question, but one to think about too most people seem to say the AWB thing was well and over by '67 already as funny cars were coming on strong. the picture could be from late '67 if that were a brand new '68 GTX right? it could be from later too. something i'm very curious about are the lesser known AWB cars as well as what happened to them after '66. were guys still building that style of car into the 70's? i'm sure many cars were built when that was a hot and common trend and practice, but what about after that? i know little to nothing really about these cars but like looking at them, reading about them and trying to learn. i thought it was interesting when i saw the '68-'69 car in the pic, thought i'd ask a legit question. Dave
I have this one of the Blairs Chevy II when it appeared at our track in the '60's. Can barley see it behind the Dart in second picture. Anyone have a side shot of the car? Still looking for photos of the Crouch-Richardson "Bewitched" 1965 Plymouth .
that is the Blairs car..you can read the lettering.. here's a really bad photo that I took at Irwindale
Thanks for looking. The gentleman that owned and raced it in 65-68 was in my shop today. I found some of his old funny car pictures, but so far no luck on the AWB Plymouth.
your picture is from 1968 and the track was Mid America Raceways in Missouri see the green Corvette in the other lane in front of your car here is another picture it could be racing you and also it has my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda in the background wearing its 1968 only paint scheme
Here's a AWB Plymouth that I bought in Chicago a little over a year ago, also an AWB Camaro former Kelly Chadwick 67 Camaro that I bought and started restoration on
Should be finished this summer.and maybe seen at strip near you!! It will be a serious challenger. Hemi man
Here are some from Milan and Motor City Dragways - '65-'66. Ron and Dan Elkins' Chevy II out of Midwest Auto Parts' huge stable. Bill Stinson

Hi All! This is a really great thread! It makes an old-head like me happy to see all these AWB's coming out of the woodwork! Like Goldfinger - what a ride! I loved them back then, and I still love them today. Stockers on Steroids! For your enjoyment, here are a few photos I took at Cecil County in August 1965 - when I was 18! The real deal! "Funny Cars Forever!"
Here's a couple more. Pete Gates' Comet: this car just sold on B-J for over $200,000! Local (Detroit area) dude Paul Stefanski's 'cammer Mustang. Both cars shot with my trusty Insta-Matic at Milan Dragway, Milan, MI
I don't think this is the same Gate Job body that sold a BJ for $160,000. This is the '67 body, the one that sold was the '66. I think it may be the same chassis though. Great photos !!!
Oh brother......Landy's Coronet..... I used to follow that around wherever it went at Lions....That car was a celebrity,,,,
Hi Dean ... I agree. I wasn't aware that someone "restored" the Kentucky Colonel That car should have not been touched, should have just been left alone. Drag racing history has been done another great disservice. Joel
