I recently scanned some more of my old transparencies from the 60's and 70's in Australia so here we go again.
First up my first Aussie Nationals--1968 at Calder just out of Melbourne.

Sorry that most of these are not in motion but live with it.

Calder is a road race track that uses the front straight as the drag strip so the pits are more road race style. Most of these cars are from Sydney with what I think is Chuck May's blue altered in the foreground and probably Bob Dunn's car behind it. The magenta flake T bucket in the next row is Dennis Walford's and as far as I know he still has the car.[IMG]

Judging by the guys in the white dustcoat this appears to be the tech line. The VW was campaigned by the late Ken Virgin who road raced the car before discovering drag racing. He regularly kicked my arse in stock elim at our local 1/8 mile track. The sports car in front of it is a Bolwell, a locally produced body that was the equivalent of a Kellison or Astra.

This is John Maher's first injected hemi car that has recently been restored by Ross Preen to its later (post Maher) blown configuration. I learned how to pack a parachute while giving John and his dad a hand with this car. It was a huge ring slot deal. John crashed the car this weekend but came back to be the front running injected hemi car in the country with both this car and its successor.

Roger Hoare's Vigilante altered powered by a six cylinder Holden motor. Looks like a late Chevy six but is smaller and ranged in capacity from 149 to 179 cubic inches initially, later 202. Most early race versions were bored to 192.

Wayne Ruckley's original Cheetah with six carbs on a small block (327 if I remember correctly).

Is this Car Shop car a Camaro with a weird roof?
It looks kind of like a cross between a Camaro and a Roadrunner or something.

Probably a 332 Ford at the time. Dunn ran a 390.

It was a customizng kit sold for Camaros back in the day that you could purchase and install at home so the car wouldn't be so ugly. They were trying to make it more like a '67-'69 'Cuda. I can't remember what the company name was that marketed them.
