I love the fact that Richard Munz S' Deuced is a contender... would that be a statement if it would win!

I followed that black 32 [ Floyd Williams ] build on the Fastlane web site. What a beauty. The builder Dave Lane has put some real nice cars out there. Very creative interior and smooth finish.

Wouldn't it make a "huge statement", about hot rodding , if the "AMBR" winner was also the "Jalopy Journal" winner.

Not saying it is the best, but after seeing the really extensive amount of mods on past winners I think the Auburn will win it. Out of the ones shown here that is.

  10. How many non- Fords have won AMBR ?

Some cool stuff in that group.

I'll be anxious to see what wins.

Unfortunately, the smart $$$ is on the Foose-built "Swoopster".

The paint on Don Smith's RPU is beautiful in person but the Auburn is amazing.

I'd jump in Sidney, Allen's full fendered 32 and drive it anywhere but my bet is on the Hetfield Auburn as it just flat spins my wheels and has the look.

You never know though as some of the others may have way more than we are seeing here.

Unfortunatly, Richard Munz's '32 will never get the nod but out of all that have been pictured it's the one I'd jump in and drive off if given the chance. Another observation................is it posslble the winner may actually have a build cost of less than $5,000,000:eek::rolleyes:
If so, that WILL be refeshing.

Deuce highboy, Deuce full fender, Deuce highboy, Deuce full fender, etc., etc.,
I looked at all of them, I picked the '33, but then, fancy displays usually win.
I did like the Williams Deuce, basic highboy, no big fancy display, just a neat hot rod. The gold Deuce pickup was a nice piece, but wrong color! In person, it just didn't look right. Maybe if the '33 and the pick up switched colors.....
The Auburn was a good looking car, but......
    Just my opinion.

This is a really nice car. Some nice choices in the list there. I saw most of the others but the crowd was driving me nuts and I had to get out of there. Steady flow of traffic and if you stopped to take a pic they'd run you over. Being the building furthest from the entrance I suppose the crowd had all had enough by the time they got there, as the other buildings didn't seem so bad. It was ok, as that led to the gallery, even further away, tucked behind the main building. That was incredible. More here.

After seeing them all today, the Auburn would get my vote. It is so beautiful, it's sinful. The display for that last '33, "Possessed" was ridiculous, but judges like that junk. All of the other cars were very nice, don't get me wrong, but the Auburn just makes you say "wow!" James Hetfield is building an impressive resume of cars.

  24. im a fan of the auburn, but no ones pointed out that a large percentage are powered by hemis. great pics, thanks.

    Then don't look! :D

I was just going to post:

    Damn! ... early HEMI-powered Deuce's are getting to be belly-button cars! :(

  28. Eh Dave, they're called 'ME2 Ford rad shells!!*****ing hate em. Wanna see something different. We were talking in the shop tonite and saying that I bet not one magazine can go more then 3 months without having a ME2 on the cover! haha
All these cars are boring, same old same old... seriously... order your ME2 kit, then your paint color, upholstery kit, wheels and your HEMI or SBC motormount kit... except for the peekup which would look way better with white runnin boards... The swoopy '33 looks like it came out of the 80s... Hetfields car is refreshing, it should win it....

Is there a "first time shown" rule for the AMBR?,...the Auburn and Jerry Magnusens roadster were at SEMA.
