to get back to the mv altered. i don't know who's cars i saw but they were both yellow and looked just alike. i have never been to a hamb drag so i don't think it was your car. i belong to the american nostaglia racing association and i believe i saw them at one of our events at palmdale. though, senility is starting to set in.

Here is my old pile. This car was a B/GAS car back in the day. I bought this car (not in this condition) my senior year of High School.

Not exactly what I am going to attempt, but I do love early Vette drag cars. That is a sweet ride.

Well I know this is an old thread but I'm bringing it back cause its mine and I'm on the fence about which way I want to go with my T roadster since my parts stash is growing. Do I want to build something drag inspired, or a more traditional modified? That is the question. Post some more pics if you got 'em.

  10. I'll bite. Here's some T-Bucket drag inspiration:

What was that the name of that green show car they illegally made a model out of? A cover car with a lift off body? Gary

  16. Believe you're thinking about the Geraghty and Crawford "Grasshopper".

As for the model, I don't believe anybody who's car inspired a model was paid royalties until Big Daddy Roth came along. "Grasshopper? Screw 'em, we'll just call it the Green Hornet!"

Might as well swipe the magazine pic pose for our model box cover while we're at it.

Yep, that be it. I really liked the car so much more than the model. Gary

Here's the first one I built in the late 60s:

    327 hydraulic cammed SBC - best of 10.36 @ 133

Here is my latest not-so-HAMB-friendly T:

    300 Ford six - best of 9.0 @ 147

  26. Cool, Frenchtown! That deserves closer attention.

I sold that car over 30 years ago to finance my next T, a Logghe altered drag car. I lost track of my original car until my wife and I attended the Goodguys show at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green in 2008. There on a hillside I spied a familiar site - my old car. Found after three decades! Thank God nobody died in that thing! It was built from Car Craft Magazines 10-month build-it-yourself series of articles, no doubt the most definitive series ever on how to build a rod.

    The same car today:

It has the same hand built radiator I fabbed up with side-mount White truck Guide headlites. I crawled under it and my unique roll bar mounts were still on the frame. Yup, my old car.

I'm going for that Vibe with mine, I modeled my headers from this car for instance.[IMG]
