I tried a little trick. I did not move the wheelhouses forward with this build, as I found an abundance of unused space in the forward portion of the wheelhouse, behind the quarter, to the tune of about six inches!! So, I just re-positioned the axle centerline about four and half inches forward, and with the use of the shorter front style Chrysler springs, when you look underneath, it matches up to the original Ford perches. Deceptive, but most will be able to easily tell its been altered.

I signed up at Hubgarage as Falconred and did the search. It came up that way and I was able to view the photos.

Still wondering where your rear tires come from and if you can get them without the white walls you have turned in.

The tires are the Mickey Thompson nostalgic slicks that radir wheels sells.I wish they offered them with no white wall but they dont. They are suppose to be the same as a ET street slick, but I havent had them hook up very well so I just use them for the street.Theres the pie crust slicks that Coker sells but they are a little more rounded on the outside edge. And then there are those that The Hurst tire out of Oregen sells That look great but are the recap design.I've never tried them personally but I've heard good and bad.I guess I just decided to trust the Mickey Thompson stuff.Mine are the 29.5 x 10 x 15 style.Looking for something to cover the white wall part of it.The front tires I bought from Coker Tire the are the firestone 560-15 pie crust style on my 15x 4 rim.Hope this helps.

  13. Thanks for this thread. It may inspire me to get back on my 64 this spring. Its a more door someone shortened into a 2dr two seater. It came out of FL. pretty rough & too rusty to use structure wise so I had an old 48 Chrysler rolling frame around that already had a camaro/nova front clip on it and shortened that so I have a full frame under it now. I'm tossed between building it & scrapping it.

  14. Get a can of "tire black" paint. That's what we used on the set we put on the Bonner T-bolt. Dad has had the can of his for awhile so I'm not sure where to get it. Maybe a tractor supply type store??

The night it sold I called a friend of mine that helped in restoring this car. It was sad to see it go for so little, in my opinion anyway. I will get some details and post. I also know and grew up a block from Hatton who did all the lettering and graphics on it originally and for the restoration. Very Cool!

Ken;did you deside if you want,or need, the three pieces for the rear between the tailights? The Comet looks great!I was at the GNRS today and there was a Galaxy with a Cammer, car was a little out there for my taste. ROY

Thanks, I don't like the looks of the Coker slicks and don't know if I like the the thoughts of the recaps (that's all I could afford back in my younger days) so I was hoping these came in black wall. I guess you can't have everything.

How wide is you rear end, wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface?

I finally got the Hub Garage to work and hit your site this morning. Looks good.

    Sorry about the delay Falconred.
My rearend is 46" wide flange to flange and 32.5" center of spring to center of spring.I can run the 10x15 radir on a 15x10 with 5" offset with room on both sides.

I was going to ask about this car... I remember seeing it back in '97' at Columbus Ohio at the Supercar Showdown, it had weber carbs on it, the guy would do a ten minute burnout LOL ...
