Lookin good. Guys who tell ya your car isn't **** cuz it's gl***, just tell them to show you thier steel one and if they do happen to have a steel one, compare dollar for dollar in them....you can't loose either way and guess what, you will have as much fun in yours as he will in his. Don't let them idiots bug ya....it looks awesome and will be awesome. I also agree it is sweet to see young guys buildin hot rods and not tuner cars....GOOD JOB!!

Dude! The car is going to be *****in'! Nobody in this group cares if it's gl***, so don't apologize to anyone! I will throw in my 2 cents worth as far as making a change on the car. I'd cut the ends of the exhaust off behinds the mufflers and turn them out at least a little. I say this, 'cuz the car's going to be all pretty and shiny and you're going to be blowing dust ALL over it! I say this from experience, so do it now before it's done. The car is too cool, just take your time, do it right and don't rush to get it done for a car show. There will ALWAYS be car shows!

****... When you're done with it you'll be able to sell it for enough to buy a steel body and frame at least... keep it up!

my game plan is to get the ****** tunnel all figuered out and get that all ready and get the dash where i want it and fab up some new mounting hardware and get that figuered out then pull the body off and start plumming for the gas tank and get that hooked up to gots lots ahead of me

Not sure if anyone answered your question but yes the lip is there on a steel car. The rear apron that covers the gas tank bolts on right there. I was originally going to build a fibergl*** car and talked myself out of it. Found a rough body and 20yrs later and several thousand hours it is still not on the road. I also say build what you want. Plenty of years left for you to build a car for other people.

Had a gl*** 34 coupe myself.. They're good looking cars.
I remember a couple of restorer types looking at it and saying it was a shame what I'd done to it. They thought it was a stipped down stocker not something that had come from a vat at Dow Corning.
    Good luck with the build.

a quick update i have been working on this thing like crazy and feel like i have got nothing done!!! I had the guy thats going to do the exhaust work come out and look at the frame and see what he thought about how he would get it all tucked up in the frame and he said he could do it i just needed to revamp my ****** mount. I feel that I am a decent welder but with something that is as important as the ****** mount i needed some one that has more experiece do that so i made it fit and and got it where i wanted and let my neighbor finish weld it up. He's a welder by trade so i felt more comfortable with him doing. I than set the gas tank in and marked where its going to go and removed the body so i could finish up the frame, mount and paint the tank, and send it to the exhaust shop to have that done. When i get the money for the exhaust work the frame will be done for the most part. i took the body off again to work on the firewall and get it ready for paint and clean the underside of the body and paint it black. I wont be able to afford to paint the whole body at once so im just going to paint the wheel openings and the firewall, I decided to paint the coupe Washington blue/Dearborn blue, a color that to me looks just as good as any. here are some pics the I am about done with the body work on the firewall, I'm going this afternoon to get the blocking primer. I also got the ****** tunnel put in and seam sealed the seams and fixed a small crack that was starting in the door jamb area that I caused trying to get the body to fit as well as one around the ****** tunnel

well today after i bought the blocking primer and came home and thought to myself that if i really wanted i could knock out the body work on the cowl and firewall and get some primer on it, well it took a little longer than i had first thought cause i kept finding little imperfections that i needed to fix first. Glad i did cause i when i did get the Slick Sand layed down on the car it came out nice, first time i have sprayed the slick sand and im sold its a real nice blocking primer IMO and sands good to boot little to no effort!

Any idea whose body that is? Never saw a gl*** car with a slanted chop like that.

You're having fun and that is the name of the game.
