  6. Okay Photoshop experts. Could you do this car blue (the color of the firewall) with black fenders and all black. I'm torn at this point and need some inspiration. Thanks to all, gotta go chow down, Scruffy.

Hey scruffy, I don't have photoshop, but maybe I can give you a couple ideas. Here's a two tone similar to what the factory did on some models

    Here's a 32 in an all-dark paint scheme

Here's the 31 in Blue/Black paint scheme, a different shade of blue, but you get the idea.
The 32 is coming along nicely, I wish mine was that far along.

Call me crazy here, but ya ever think about doin the wheels in a dif color than black?

After looking at the images that Montclaire posted, i cant help but think that with that blue you have on your firewall (and assume you are gonna do the rest of the body in), and the black fenders, the wheels would look awesome in a pale yellow...

    Just my 2 cents.

I've been reading about your build. Going to be a nice ride. Makes me want to work on one of my projects. I just saved a 31 Willy from the crusher. Could I trouble you for a measurement? I need to know how wide the car is at the bottom of the doors at the rear of the jamb. (Marked by the red line.) Many thanks and good luck with the car.

  14. Thanks but already got 2 bills in them for powercoating. The arch's on the artillary rims will be pinstriped and baby moons and 40 ford ribbed trim rings should help wake them up i hope.

  15. Will measure tomorrow but mine is a four door and don't think it will be the same as yours. Maybe PM montclaire, he seems to have some pretty damn good info on these.

Well mine is about 13". I was looking for width L to R across the floor, because I don't have any floor in mine to keep it from spreading. If it isn't any trouble I also need the width of the frame at the front, because I don't have a front crossmember. Thanks

I don't know if there is a difference between coupe and sedan doors so I'm going to take a couple different measurements and Scruffy can compare them on his. If you don't have doors yet I would wait to see what you can find and then build to that. I think either would work but there may be a difference in length.

I might not be able to get a measure across the floor with the seat in the way, there's a wooden base that may interfere. What I think I'll do is measure across the top, the latches, and try to figure the change from the latch down to the floor. I can always make up a template for you if need be. The body does pinch in quite a bit - more curvy that you would figure for an early 30s model.

There was a cowl and two doors for sale in the swap section, might want to look into that.

Looks like you have a pretty rare model there, this is the only photo I can find of another at the moment. Listed as a 97 'Coach.' Most of the two door sedans I have seen are the victoria model with the rear trunk. Should be funky when it's done.

montclaire. That is the only pic I could find too. Looked for quite awhile. Thanks.

  24. Okay the spread on the body is 47 3/8" - 47 1/2", 13 inches in front of the wheelwells. That would be from where the rockers/sills attach to the body which is all the way to the inside edge of the door jams. the fromt frame horns on mine are 24 1/2" from outside edege to outside edge. This measurement is where the frame horns meet the cast spring perch/bumper mount ends. Hope this makes sense and helps you out.

Jeez thanks that does help ALOT. Those measurements are perfect. I hate to ask but I could use a couple more measurements. End of frame horns to axle center and end of frame horns to front of grille.

  26. I'm guessing your talking front axle and yes I'll get those for you but it might be Friday B-4 i can get back out there.

Yes, front axle. Friday would be fine. Thanks

  28. Okay from the front of the frame horns, not the cast bumper bracket/spring perch the measurement is 16 3/4" from the leading edge of the frame horn to the centerline of the front axle. The peak or leading edge of the grille is 8 3/8" back from the same spot on the frame horn.
