Ouch.:p Screwed? Right, I dislike the Fusion SO much, that I just bought another one, an '06 to replace my aging Silverado pickup as daily driver. Actually, it's a Merc "Milan", but since aftermarket crash parts don't exist for them, it's now happily wearing Fusion headlights, bumper cover and hood. So, it's a "Milusion", and I got it for less than the 4500 I'd have gotten for the CFC money. So, I'm looking at as 2 for the price of one. They are very, very nice cars.

I think the coupe on the trailer on the scrap scales is a hilarious photo. You shoulda seen the faces of the junkies at the local metal shredder when I rolled across the scales with a load of scrap on my utility trailer behind the '48 Pontiac convert! (I was a little worried about cutting a tire on the stuff on the ground:eek:)

Most people around here know better than to take a "classic" car to the crusher. Even if they don't, some of the crushers let cars that might could be used for parts sit for a while before meeting their demise.

On the one hand I'm glad scrap is up, because I have about three / four OT cars at my place I could stand to be rid of, and crush money could help fund other projects.

On the other hand it kills me to see old shop equipment like presses, brakes, and mills going for scrap. There used to be a ton of small machine shops around Huntsville - now they're all gone, the equipment slowly making it's way to the scrapyard. I found a small Bridgeport at the yard on US 278 near Snead AL, but it was too far gone to save.

  5. That ain't even funny. A couple years ago my buddy who runs the town dump had a woman pull in and throw away boxes & boxes of brand new Harley parts.. They were rescued & went to a good home.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! A guy would sell all of his cheating wifes stuff for as much as he could get! ;) Not to stray too far OT (a little late I guess!), but a woman I work with slashed the tires OF HER OWN CAR WHEN SHE SAW IT IN THE DRIVEWAY OF HER HUSBANDS GIRLFRIENDS HOUSE!!! I never understood that...

I don't think it would bring the $500.00 (It weighs less than the coupe, somebody probably already got the fenders), but I sure wish I could get this thing un-frozen from the ground ! :D

  8. Wow! Is that a glass car under all that snow? If it's steal it won't be there in the morning. If you hear some noise in your backyard tonight just roll over and go back to sleep. It won't be me loading it up on the trailer I promise. Nice pic!!

For $500.00 I'd drive from here in South Dakota and help you break it loose and get it out of your yard.... I might even do it for a grand LOL

My wife is a light sleeper, and a really good shot, and I don't remember saying it was in "MY" backyard ,..... The local wild Rabbits are using this thing for a hutch right now,.... (If you look you can see the tracks going up to it) and them bunnies are so darn cute in the spring :).

According to the Hot Rod guys in town the owner can be a real jerk ! :D

That attitude worked in my favor when the scrap boys pulled in at the dealership with a n.o.s. taillight panel for '67-'68 Camaro on the top of their pile. They were overjoyed when I gave them $10 for it, and I was overjoyed when it was the first thing I sold at Fall Carlisle!

Well, the ads are back down to $200 for a complete full size car. Looks like somebody had some bad intel on what prices were gonna do. That's gonna hurt if they bought very many.

china was buying for the olympics , they needed all the various metals they could get, you know that birdsnest thing etc, that they built, now they are ramping up the military, here we go again,

  15. I was going past a scrap yard last week and saw a caravan of small trucks outside with all sorts of crap on the back of them. This was close to closing time, the last minute rush I guess. I've been seeing one old truck with North Carolina plates cruising in my area, he picks up old stoves, refrigerators, etc. I suppose the pickins are slim in NC.
