I have a question. Why doesn't anybody make repro door for a 26-7 T coupe? At this point, I don't care if they are glass or steel... I would think that someone would wake up to the fact that there is a need here. Is anybody (capable of producing them) listening? r
I have been looking for two years. Called Model T Haven one time. They had a set for $950.00, and said I better hurry, as they had 3 guys wanting them. I about dropped the phone. I've come to the conclusion that I will have to buy another body with doors, use my body for patch panels. Why the hell does everybody have bodys with no doors, or decklids? Aliens?
I know they are the same as the early A trucks. That doesn't help much as they are nearly as scarce. Think about it. One can buy nearly every body piece for an A or a Deuce in repop, but the main missing link for a T coupe is the only thing that isn't repopped... What kind of sense does that make? I would think that making repop glass doors would be fairly easy, I just don't have one to pull a form from. r
I paid over $300 a piece for my 27 Coupe doors on evilbay and they still need the full patch treatment. There is a guy named Russ Nomore I think, who makes glass 27 T coupe bodies and doors and I contacted them but they won't sell just the doors.
Even harder in land of salt up here to find doors--was glass guy around few yrs ago that did all sorts --will see if still around and whats up--keep u posted
Its because they fit the 28-29 "a" trucks, as well as 26-27 "t" , that they are so scarce, when you think about it, fitting coupes, sedans, trucks, its a wonder that there are any left! I got outbid at an auction, for a pair that were twisted, rusted, broken & bent! the top half of one was completely rusted away!My jaw dropped when i was at a swap two years ago, & a kid that pulled a "rusty body" out of his grandpa's field , sold it, doors & all for $75.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep lookin' maybe that kids grandpa got other bodies out in his field!
What are the specs on the '26-'27 doors? I have a set of doors that don't fit to the A-pillars that I have, how do I tell which of which I have? The differences are in the hinge placement...
Hey Ravin, There was a post on here a while back about buying repo skins and then just fab'ing the structure. That is probly the path you want. Carl
I have a set of stock steel doors. I have created 'glass molds before. It's a lot of work. The finished parts will take-up all the flaws of their parents, no matter who makes the mold. I can make these doors. There would have to several committed buyers with cash in hand. We would have to agree on an acceptable price, delivery date, and level of quality.
Hard to find. I have 2 complete coupes by my barn, and several people keep asking if I will sell the doors. Good thing the 200lb Mastiff keeps an eye on things!
I bought my 27 coupe for alittle over $700 delivered. The doors are pretty bad on the bottom. So i bought a good set off of ebay for just about the same price. I thought that was bad, guess i did good. Going to use the other pair on my tudor. These doors pop up every so often for a descent price.
RAVEN...the T models are very scarce these day's, and most rodders wouldn't be caught dead in a glass coupe. i wish you LUCK my friend, but S.O.H.C.427 said he has 2 complete Ts. YEA! that's the ticket...POP.
Rand man, I too have been thinking about pulling molds off mine. These things are as hard to find as chicken lips!
I think these would be fairly easy to make if you were not too picky about the inner panel being just like the originals. You can buy the inner garnish and some hardware. How much demand is there and would you guys care if the inner panel was a little different from stock?
Several years ago I had 3 sets of doors for 26/27 coupes. 2 sets of 23/25 doors. Due to limited room at the time, I put them up for sale and boy-o-boy did they go quick. Been a while but I want to say that I got between 350 - 500 per pair on average. Makes me wonder how someone hasn't come up with a way to repop these at a price that they could turn a profit.
I get a news letter from Sacramento Vintage Ford and they are going to start selling steal 28-29 closed cab pickups and doors.
If one looks at a T door they're not that easy to repop, like somebody said, especially for them to look real. Used are not necessarily rare, just not cheap. I know of three guys in Colo/Wyoming that sell T doors, they get from $300 for rusty crap, up to $800 for a fairly decent door.
I bought all the 28/29 Model A and T Coupe doors I could afford several years back and now I can buy a doorless body fairly cheap as required since the bodies are not worth much without doors. It is all the guys parting stuff out on E gay that started this. Yes repro doors would cost a pretty penny to produce. I know a guy with over 10 pairs of these doors and he is just sitting on them for now. To make it worse they are all near perfect. Mind you there have been some crap chop jobs over the years that would have wasted a lot of good doors as well. Dont forget the Model AA truck guys are also in the hunt for these doors. E gay has sold all the good stuff to overseas buyers who probably valued this stuff more than locals who always thought it would last forever.
I'll bet Sacramento Vintage Ford is bringing in this. http://www.wsrrc.com.au/documents/28-29-closed-cab.pdf Wounder what the FOB Sacramento price will be for these and for the doors alone.
i have a right door needs repair but workable i have had 5 guys say they want it and flake i will come and look at it and never show i only want 200 for it come and get it tk
I feel bad now because I bought a pair out of a basement at an estate sale a couple of years ago for $20.00. One of them is almost perfect, and the other one needs some work, but they have no rust.
Carl, I thought about fabbing up my own set. The thing is, the top portion of the door is the main problem part. No repop stuff made for that part and it would all have to be hand made by some one with better skills than me. The rest (lower portion and inner structure) wouldn't be that hard. r
Glass guy was place called RamRod and no one knows if still around but seen this as well ?? http://oshawa.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...-Ford-Model-T-Coupe-2-door-W0QQAdIdZ183032164 ??????
A few years ago my brother bought a T coupe body out of Independence MO, without doors. The seller (nice guy) had a very nice set of doors in the garage that he wanted to keep. Wonder if you know him?
Ha, Ha, very funny. Those went with the complete T coupe I shouldn't have sold... Now I'm stuck with piecing one together... How he coming on that one? r
If you can make the lower portion, couldn't you maybe find the upper portion from another set of doors (Dodge, Chevy, etc) and modify it to fit your custom doors? The other option I'd suggest is learn how to make a mold that won't destroy paint, and I'll let you make one off of my doors if you come to Jay's BBQ in April.
