    ...and Traditional Hot Rodders "Malcontents."

All in the spirit of fun, I’m sure, but here’s what just arrived in my inbox from Hemmings Motor News:

Hmm, interesting. It seems like the author is trying to get some good reader response emails . . . .

If that's what it means to be a malcontent, I'll admit to being one.

I think ol' Daniel needs his inbox filled with about 50,000 emails from us "malcontents" to educate him on the error of his opinion of us and this site.

Why? He will just read about it here. He's a HAMBer and has been for a long time as far as I know.

Hmmm, we are "reactionary" as opposed to Hemmings "The Bible of the Hobby Since 1954", seems like an oxy***** to me Daniel!

Be nice but let him know your thoughts!

  18. Coincidentally ...

A display ad editor from Hemmings Motor News left a message
on my voicemail on Monday wanting to know if I was interested
    in 'display ad' advertising

I don't think Hemmings is doing too well in this economy

And yes - I am somewhat of a rebel I must admit .....

Why all the hate towards Daniel?
Malcontent means "One who rebels against the established system", and if you don't think that's what the HAMB represents I suggest you rethink that position.

And certainly Reactionary fits well here - Reactionary refers to any political or social movement or ideology that seeks a return to a previous state (IE, traditional way of things)

I got dibs on the club name! I hereby announce the charter chapter of the Tejas Malcontents! We will be based in Hutto, TX. That's the Tejas part. Now I'll have to get busy on the logo for the plaques...

I think it was extremely well written and right on the money.

Matching luggage designed to the car is very tradtional was was comonly found in the higher end cars back in the day. If I would have had some extra $ I would have had Fat Luckys make me a matching over night bag and cosmetic bag for Big Olds. I did get a matching diaper bag though.:D

I think you guys are reading too much into what he is writting.

The HAMB award is reactionary. I think Ryan made that clear when it was created to award a car HAMB'ers would like.

I am not really seeing him as slamming the HAMB, and the malocontents thing is just writers window dressing.

Given my response to the AMBR winners I would be more likely a malocontent like many of you think he is talking about but so what...I get to have an opinion also.

To quote Francis Farmer..."It doesn't matter what they're saying, just as long as they're talking about you".

I kinda liked the article. At first glance, I wondered if he was aware that the HAMB was voting on the award in real time. The choice of winner isn't reactionary to the choice of the AMBR award, but I can see how the existence of the JJ award might be reactionary to the trends in the rest of the rodding world and maybe the recent history of the AMBR award.
