Single side stripe came on the strip model 62s. The 500s had the extra trim on the sides and across the back along with the teardrops on the quaters.
Blue gasser has been bought and sold a couple of times on the HAMB. 4 geter I found on the board a few months ago. Old race car with T-bolt front clip. Then some pics of my 62 strip model. Has 200 six and 3 spd out of a Falcon in it. Just picked up a 351 roller motor.
I've posted these before, but here is my project. No recent pictures, but I've been working on the front suspension to get the nose up as we're shooting for a street racer/gasser stance circa early 60s. Powertrain is a built 312 with 3x2, 5spd and '57 9 inch with cheater slicks out back. Will be green suede or maybe two tone green and white when done. Hopefully on the road this summer.
Here is an old photo of my 66 Fairlane GT 4 Speed convertible. I bought it brand new when I got out of HS. It was Springtime yellow with a parchment interior. It had a 335HP 390 and but was lacking the power needed to keep up with tri power GTO's etc, so I put a cam, headers, Mallory revpoll... etc... and eventually blew the engine! A valve hung up and hit a piston at the top of 3rd gear. My dad could not understand why anyone in their right mind would modify a new car It shut off instantly and the short block was trashed but the heads were still salvageable. I went to the Ford dealer to buy a new 390 shortblock and found they had a new engine, a 428, which was in the 67 Seven Liter Galaxies. The 428 was not much more in cost that the 390 so I bought one. I bolted on the HP heads, carb' etc... from the 390 GT engine onto the 428 and had the equivalent of a 428 cobra jet engine before they were "invented"! I traded it in on a new 69 Grand Prix in the fall of 68 in Chicago. I've never seen another one like it and if I did, I'd probably buy it.
Don,t think there,s a Crown Victoria in here yet. I had this '56 about 25 odd years ago. Was the only one in the country at the time . Probably still is
Nice to see so many Fairlane guys here- Here are a few of mine after 5 years of part time resto- Seattle area car, original paint, stripped to bare metal, originally 260 auto, now roller 302 T-5 Crites hood & bumpers,American Eagle 5 spokes15x7,15x8 with a set of body colored steelies from a wagon for the rear for nostalgia days-will be ready for my son's grad parade
My ol' gal, owned since 1995, original survivor. It's a little thread bare in places and the paint is wearing thin too! Collect's many a road trophy and recently finished an 1100 mile roadtrip over 5 days with my son.
Anyone have information on the chrome hood scoop piece? The only thing I can find so far is it being on a car in an original Ford total performance ad. I'm guessing it to be an option but it seems odd not be part of a larger trim package such as the 500. These seem to be fairly uncommon on restored cars and my OE paint 500 wagon did not have it either.
I think you are right, the one I posted is one and looking through some old ads closer all of them appear to be sports coupes. It's seems rare any more seeing a 64 without a teardrop let alone with the hood chrome. Thanks This is my wagon as I drug it home. The last owner had T-bolt clone parts and a 427 for it but gave up on the project. For now it's mostly stock, I'm going with a few period aftermarket parts and light custom touches.
Pretty cool HAMB Groups: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=447 and http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=462
here is my 65 Fairlane 500 station wagon. She do not currently look like this. The interior is completely gone and all the front sheet metal is off. I have fixed the rusted out right frame rail and drivers side floor pan. Hopefully this weekend I will be buying all the parts to rebuild the front end suspension.
Here is mine. Getting close to fully torn down and on the rotisserie. Have to decide on engine. Considering the Fatman front suspension for it.
