42-48 ford hotrods Lets see some pics!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 46fatford, Feb 5, 2010.

  1. I have seen plenty of 42-48 ford coupes as chopped customs, but what about as hot rods? My 46 business coupe is a real deal early 60's survivor that is getting a flatty for now till I get the coin to redo my 58 J2 rocket olds. The car has reversed wheels, lowering shackles, aftermarket gauges, plymouth bumper, tube grill and best of all an original Hurst synchro loc shifter hooked to the 3spd. The car had a locked up/rusted solid 53 caddy motor in it when I got it. I would really love to see some more of these year fords as period hot rods.
    Thx

I'll play, even though its been posted before. 1947 Ford 350/350 (yes I know its boring) s10 clip 1 coil cut, sans front bumper, shaved hood, trunk and fenders, shortened Merc. belt line trim, widened rear fenders, parallel leaf 10 bolt rear.

Fords are great - I've had a few - first love is Mercs 46-48. This car was at a car show/swap meet down in Centralia (I think) about 20 yrs ago. Don't know the owner, but it reminded me of my first car ever, so I snapped a pic.

My 48 moordor. Loaded '50 Cad. engine. 39 tranny. Not sure if I'm happy with the 4 door body. That might be the reason I haven't done any work on the main body. Maybe someday I'll get the energy to change it. Or not.

Not the latest pics, but add side pipes and center caps and you get the idea.

My bud Terry's '46 at the drags last year. Runs high 13's so I think that qualifies it as a hot rod.

  18. My car is actually a early 46 with an old eastern auto tube grill from the fifties. i'm going to install a stocker soon. Also been thinking about a 47 olds grill.

  19. I have this 1948 for sale on the H.A.M.B now

My car sounds similar to yours. It still wears 40 year old paint that shows its age well. Still has the flathead with an isky cam and two-twos, Edmunds heads and manifold. Sorry I don't have any better pictures on my computer.

    Chris55,

What year Merc trim is that? It looks good! Are all three side pieces from the Merc?
