can anyone tell me how rare or valuable a 33 willys delivery is or could be? any pics would be great.. thanks
They don't exactly grow on trees, someone claimed they made about 7 in like 35 or 36, so I doubt they made a ton in '33. Value would depend on condition, of course, but if it's complete and not too much money it's a no brainer even if you just flip it and put the bucks into something else.
Not too rare they make them in glass! Do a google, hit "image" or maybe carnut for pics.................
The early 30's Willys panel looked like this. Many were made into drag cars in the 60's. In SoCal, I remember about 5 or of them at the strip. Rare, but not real rare. I believe they were known as the Series 77 model of Willys.. A buddy of mine swapped a car battery and $2 for one when I was in high school.
Steel is like any other Willys that's favored by the racer and street rod guys. They are repopped in 'glass. Worth good money if it's complete, and not beat to death.
a lot would depend on what shape and how complete it is, Yes they are very hard to find and valuable. depending on the shape of it $5-$10K would be cheap. here are a few
that looks perfect... maybe your buddy still has his and maybe i can give him a batt and $5? if i dont trade i have a deal on a anglia almost done for 5k
Man, I thought Catch Me If You Can was the coolest. I think it was featured in Hot Rod Yearbook (maybe)..... turns out I still think its cool.
I give your PM box 15 min. to be full, seems there's more in that shop than just '33 parts.............
These are awesome cars heres a model i built awhile back i cut a 33 delivery down and made it into a truck moved the back of the cab forward!
There was a post sometime in the past year about somebody finding a 34-36 Delv at a scrap dealer's. Ya might want to search for that post and see what he has to say. Beyond that, all I have to say is they are cool. I'd build one if the opportunity presented itself.
I found one in a wrecking yard back in the late 50's..Went home with me for $75.00.....Wish I had it today !!!!!!!
My brother n law had one, and the ass-hole rod shop owner he had hired to work on it folded his tent and skipped town with it (and we know where you are now). His project continued with a far more reputable builder but they had to start it over with a 4 door. It will be a wild ride when it's done. Gary
Here's the one that was found in a junkyard for $500, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378528&highlight=willys+junkyard+my+son
Anglia all the way! There's a guy I used to work with here(Donny Seale) who's got Anglias. Passed him on the road last week with his Anglia gasser on the trailer. Bitchin car built back in the day.
As a longtime Willys collector, I have yet to see and firm proof of Willys having made a PANEL Delivery before the 1935 model year, despite there being an artist's in the illustration in the 1933 factory brochure. There is also an illustration in that same brochure of a 1933 cabriolet which they never produced either. The production figures I have heard are 88 in 1935 and 337 in 1936. Give those numbers to a Ford guy and ask them if they consider them to be rare. The 1935 versions have a crank out windshield with the gauges on the left of the dash. The 1936 models have a fixed windshield with the gauges on both sides of the dash. From the rear the 1935s have no cutout in the valance below the door whereas the 1936s do as the spare wheel was relocated from inside the cargo compartment to underneath the cargo floor. Holdens made a very rare and completely different looking 1936 Willys Panel Delivery in Australia and at least one survives. Anything that looks like a 1933 has probably had a 1933 front clip added to a 1935 or 1936 if it is steel - or a fiberglass aftermarket front clip. Fiberglass replicas - which are incorrectly listed as 1933 Willys Sedan Delivery (Sedan Delivery is made from a sedan whereas a panel delivery is a truck as is the Willys 77 Panel) are available for big $$$ from: http://www.willyshotrods.com/33sedan.htm
i just asked about it not really being a 33 delivery, weasel is saying they didnt make one until 35. does anyone else know if its true? the guy also has a glass clip and has been cleaning it up. he also said the body is very nice....
