Three men are shown here wearing "Burbank Prowlers" shirts in a newer neighborhood in Burbank. Photograph caption dated August 21, 1954 reads, "Above posed picture portrays how hot rodding got bad name in early days when misguided admirers of big-time hod rodders held illegal drags in San Fernando Valley and elsewhere on back roads or long stretches of unpatrolled highways. Rod enthusiasts today realizing such activities would put sport back 10 years, impose strictest discipline not only on members who drag illegally, but on those who flout any laws of the road."

The Swastika was a widly used symbol of good fortune. Native American tribes used it quite a bit. Eastern cultures also. When the German National Socialist Party adopted it for thier shield, it gained today's negative iconocism.

I believe the swastika goes back to the stone age. My grandfather had a Krit Automobile (1913 0r maybe 1914) that had the swastika as the radiator emblem. I have heard people say it meant good luck.-Jim

Want to apologize to ya'll for muddying up your great thread. Like a dumbass, I went to school on this thread (dumbass) about how to post larger pics, found out too late (dumbass) that there is a practice thread, then removed uploaded pics from my webserver (dumbass), then upon realizing my error tried to reload them to the same place but did not work, guess the website gave them a different URL (dumbass).

Anyway, there you have it, I do apologize. Meanwhile, since all I had to offer were pics taken from LA sources about LA places (for the most part), those are all posted on the LA history thread. :)

All that is, except those great KC all-girls club pics.

No worries man, the other thread got shut down because of too many 'off topic' posts.

Here's one of the Poorboys lined up to drag it out at the Rumble a few years ago.

These were taken back in the early 60's in Weeki Wachi in Florida. The owner of the car was there with his wife and he got one of the water skier models to pose with his car. Aparently the woman got the impression he was somebody important and posed for quite a while and changed suits several times. The wife, now in her 70's gave me these pictures. Unfortunately the car itself served them for years and was parked under a car cover in the yard where it rusted to hell and was scrapped. But the pictures are still cool!
