Don't use an over done '40 Ford dash! Always wanted to try a '49-'50 Ford dash in a '36......................................................

........... and surely if you've "finally found" your 3w, that means you have time to look..... and ponder..... and decide which style of 3w blows your skirt up. doesn't really matter what we like..... what matters is what you like.

But since you're asking...... check out what young Cole Foster has done to more than one of them.

keep this car original if it is possible, put some spoke rims back on it. these three windows are hard to find. my dad had one and it was all factory original and if he had now it would be worth so much DONT STREET ROD IT OR CUT IT UP

  7. 36 's didnt come with spoke rims, ,,, anyways ,,, have at it , cut it up and make it what YOU want. Good luck with it , 3 windows are the HOLY GRAIL as far as I'm concerned. Mike.

dont put mustang 2 and ruin the car. I like them low but whats wrong with a dropped axle? build it traditional it will be worth more money in the long run.

I will take that old used up 36 dash, front axle brakes and wheels. If you are going to put a new rear end in it I take the rear axle also. No sense just having that used stuff laying around the yard. I will even give you a couple bucks for the trouble.

Study every top chop and the way they cut things before cutting. SORRY, I didn't realize you bought that coupe from Sweden, one of the best builds here on the HAMB. Have fun with it.

'36's don't have to be chopped to look cool. If I had a cherry one it would get the suspension slammed but no chop. If your going to chop it be very careful who and how it's done, You can make a complete mess of it if not careful and trashing a '36 3w would be sinful.
As far as the dash is concerned what's wrong with the stock one nicely detailed with restored gauges converted to 12 volt?

  25. Cut the top off and have a roadster! Mustang 11 and rear wheel steering then get a greaserific hairdoo and play really loud bangin music. Chicks dig it! Get out your StreetRodder parts catalog and start ordering all the latest crap.

Now really, If you put a mustang front end on a 36 3W you should be LOCKED UP and have all your tools taken away. Keep it simple and like Henry did it. Mild chop, straight axle, juice brakes, nice stance, wheels and tires. Did I say keep it simple and original? Just my 2 cents (Happy Valentines day, Knock it out everyone!)

This is from a owner of a nice '36 3/W and it can be a curse. If I was younger or the coupe was in so so condition it would already be chopped and hot rodded out but at 62 now I find it hard to do anything to it at all. Add to the fact that I don't really get excited about stock or parade cars it sits untouched.
Seems you have a few choices though, stock, chopped, hot rod, mild custom, full custom, taildragger, the '36 will do it all, you can't go wrong! If you were at Ford dealership in '36 to pick out a new coupe, and they offered it in every version, which one would it have been?

The 36 3 window is my dream,do it traditional, the chop will be hard to pull off,and if you screw it up your in a world of hurt. The 36 ford has some great custom lines straight out of the factory, its hard to improve on perfection.I would leave the great dash, maybe update it with a nice resto,a nice tuck n roll interior, lower it with bags,so you have the option of ride height and sitting low.Update the engine make it freeway capable, and sit on the chop until you find someone who can pull it off right.Do some research here on the hamb, look for the calori 36,its a master piece. good luck.your living my dream

  28. thanks alot...ive been doing my research a few people that have done nice work on chops... Hollywood hot rod pulled it off with that 36 they they had on there display..cole foster as you know has brought out a few 36's Macias in Corona has done really nice work as well let me know forget Jed from Long beach who build that 36 from Acme speed shop they all done good work im sure there all expensive and there all equaly capable of doing a nice sheet metal work
