I have been a lurker here for a while. I decided to pop in and introduce myself now that I have a legitimate excuse. I finally got a cool truck: 1954 Chevy 3100. I have ridden in the damn thing, but it has a carb problem (I believe) and will not start just now. So Anyway, here I am. Hi. I will post pics when I figure them out.
A couple of years ago I bought a '46 Ford pickup that's in pretty good shape bodywise. It has a small block chev engine and TH350 running in it but I also got the original flathead which turns over and the guy I bought the truck from says the flathead ran OK but "had a knock". The flathead is complete except for generator. It even still has the rubber boots covering the spark plug wires. Does anybody want to suggest what this flathead is worth in U.S. dollars? Thanks Hal
You need to post this on the main board, that way it will be seen by many more. Just trying to help you out man!
Welcome liki, enjoy the ride. If it's the carb that is keeping it from running a good way to determine that is shoot it with start fluid and it will run for a few seconds, if it doesn't, it pobably not the carb. Check at the plug wires when turning over to make sure you have good spark form the distributer, if so pull the plugs and check the gap etc.. If it has set-up long term it could be anything, but usally if it has fire and fuel it will run. Just a couple of quick checks buddy!
