I would like to get fancy on the roof of my Cadillac but do not want to venture too far into low rider paneling. Just looking to bounce ideas off of people to make this flattop fancy without making it too wild. Oh yea...here's my car. This was it right after paint 3 years ago. This time the bottom half is going to be a light green pearl clear over a gold base. Thanks for the insight!
I am almost done doing body work. There was a bunch of little dings here and there and some dents I acquired through the years. Oh yea, I ran into a median on the drivers side. (DON"T DRINK AND DRIVE) I fixed everything so it's straight now...but ready for a nice new paint job!
LOTS of FLAKE! Pick something that contrasts you final color on the bottom and then flake the **** out of it, then for a little extra cl*** some kind of striping would most likely make it pop.
My opinion: less is more. Anything you paint on that roof is going to detract from the incredible lines that car already has. I've drawn one before, a '60 Cad 4dr HT with shaved handles. My version was root beer brown with a gold roof.
I'd panel it... same color just a very subtle fade and maybe a white pinstripe offset. Simple but effective.
That's what I was leaning toward...but with a thin white pearl around the outer edges. AND don't know if I should go with a lighter green than the lower half or a darker green...OR BoTH???? The possibilities are endless! haha
I'd keep the light green bottom, pearl white top, with a slightly off pearl white fade. I'd keep the pinstripe in the same color family on the top then maybe bring it down onto the body with some very simply straight pinstriping along the tops of the fenders and fins. I've thought about doing something similar to a car in the future i've always loved the "metallic pea green" colors.
