need some help.coming close to set the body on the frame.should i use a wood block kit or put down some rubber and set the body down on top of that.31 sedan body on a tci frame.
Im going to do it the way it was originally, dont want the metal to metal possibility or squeaks...and its Traditional
I made and used some pieces from treated lumber. Worked great! As for the squeaks? Man it wouldn't be an A if it didn't squeak a little.
they really are not that expensive, when you conciter the amount of time involved in making all the new mounting blocks, its really not worth it , in my opinion
Putting polyurethane bushings under mine I bought from McMasters and Carr. Took all the wood out of the body so I figured the rest of it should go to. The wood blocks are traditional and pretty inexpensive.
i used cut up fire hose....webbed and rubber laminated already....they throw the **** out every few years for safety so its usually free
I would not use treated lumber, the chemicals in treated lumber will destroy metal unless it is stainless or double dip galvanized. As an example regular non-galvanized nails in treated lumber will dissolve in 6-12 months.
I agree with everyone else, but also put the rubber pads in, you can buy them from any Model A shop...................they also help with any squeaks. IMHO
I used the original welting, body blocks, rubber pads. All available from model A parts suppliers. Bratton's for example. Or Tam's -- https://www.modelaparts.com/catalog/template.cfm?pagename=publicwelcome
