Very cool!! I love old toys. They sure don't make them like they use to. My kids toys are all thin plastic made in china with no attention to deatail.
COOL STUFF GUYS! Thanks for posting all your goods! Yeah: Saunders, Marx, Auburn, all those toy cars were fairly cheap (when new) but so neat and detailed.
I was given this when I was a boy by my Grandma. In fact she gave me my nickname, I was her little Buddy. She bought this at a garage sale when I was about 4. I have had it ever since and it will be passed on to my boys when I leave this blue ball. Sorry for all the pics, but they just don't make em like this anymore. Completely unrestored and working perfectly.....I think of my Grandma everytime I look at it......
While not vintage, I really liked the simplicity of these toy cars. I have a set of these hot rods on the way. Simple wood and plastic combo, all parts interchangeable. http://www.automoblox.com/automoblox-minis/mini-hot-rod-3-pack.html
Great thread Jay and very cool collections guys! 49ratfink, what's this neato little number up to and do ya have a link?
Great stuff I just got back into collecting toys ,I just picked up 3 Milner's coupes ,2 im building and reselling and one Im keeping ,Also have two batman corgi's ,One I repainted to sell and the other one is in the mail .I hope 18 days so far .Paid 108.00 for the one that's supposeively in the mail .I had a few of the ones you guys posted ,I sold them awhile back .Along with all my texaco planes .I love antiques ,just another part of history .
Bud, that Buddy L firetruck is spectacular. I have looked for those at antique toy shows and nice ones are over $1000. Good job, grandma!
For your viewing pleasure. Some aren't really hot rods and some aren't plastic, but they're interesting and I hope they're aren't too o.t. here.
I pick those up now and then; the most amusing one has to be the one I got.. in a junkyard. Wish I'd gotten to it before they destroyed the '61 Rambler it was in, it's in three pieces, but I have pretty much all of it. Pretty much if it's a hot rod of some sort I try and add it to the collection.
great post! I seem to buy these whenever I see them too.... does anyone know if you can buy the "Monogram HOT ROD" store display and model in reproduction? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=903879&d=1266581320 Zach
here's an HO scale model of a NW drag racer's twin flathead powered nostalgia dragster that a master modeler friend of mine created....followed by the diorama he included it in.....
Marx made a tin version of this car, too, in about 1/18 size. I have one, but it's unfortunately misplaced somewhere.
I had to go out and buy this plastic dragster over the weekend. I am also watching some other plastic junk. hope this does not turn into an addiction.
