I don't know when they had it but I saw photos in Moring's scrap book back at the FE get together at Holt FL some years ago. I will try to follow up next time I'm in LA (Lower Alabama).

Ken;was that altered wheelbase bolt run by the Van Cleve family? That is one of the cleanest altered wheelbase Fairlanes! I understand that they are building a 66-67 Fairlane and getting back on the track.I wish I had known old tachs would get so popular,I gave away a Dixco-"Big Daddy" tach and a Sun Tach when I started getting into the Modern electronics, who knew!! ROY.

  6. Dennis, it must be hard to decide which car to use as your avatar!! LOL

My next challenge is to learn how to post large photos, instead of thumbnails.

    Regards,

Check out the above website if you are a Les Ritchey fan. Randy, Les' son has continued on with Performance Associates. I just called and placed an order for a T-shirt and a few decals. The nice girl on the phone said the T-shirt has Les' T-bolt and AFX Mustang on it. It sounds like a cool design but for some reason it doesn't show up on the website for me. There are also a few cool photos in the "History" tab. I was told the website is brand new and they will be adding to it over time.

  9. Dennis I use a Photobucket account to post the larger photos. I copy and paste the IMG code into the text and that gives you the larger photo.

I ran across this quote from an older auction page today.

"1964 Georgia Shaker Ford Thunderbolt. Number 13 of 100 Thunderbolts produced by Dearborn Steel Tubing for Ford Motor Company. Originally owned and driven by Georgia racer Hubert Platt. Like all Thunderbolts, it is powered by a 427 cubic inch "High Riser" Ford engine rated at 500 horsepower. In the mid-60's Thunderbolt number 13 was involved in an accident. The car sat for almost 30 years before Lee Malkemes of Pennsylvania, with the help of 422 Motorsports, restored the car to its original condition. The car sold here was the original core of number 13 with a new front end, quarter panel, trunk lid and passenger door. A 28-foot trailer was included with the purchase."

They sure did a nice job of getting the "core" straightened out. ;)

On the bigger pictures you can also use this site. On your home page. The photo albums, after adding to them. The only problem I've run into, because its comming from this site, only the people that are signed in can see them .

Getting back to vintage shots of T-Bolts ... here's another from the mid May 1964 NHRA regional at Cecil Co., MD. Running in A/FX is the King Ford car vs Dick Brannan in his A/FX Falcon.

Malfunction II....Platts old car. Look at post 1455 and there is a repost pic of the car after it was rolled. You will recognize the frt bumper stickers. Then driver Lee Malkemes suffered a broken neck in the wreck.

Great to see the Dockery car when it was lettered!

I took these at Milan in the mid-90s (I think), they were both owned by Al Rowland. No idea who originally owned the T-Bolt. The AFX Mustang was Jim Demmitt's car.

Here are a couple of pix of a Thunderbolt from a local show this past summer. It was said to be a real deal legit T'bolt.

The black T-Bolt was originally sold out of Hawkinson Ford - Oak Lawn IL, the automatic car. Believed to be Pop's T-Bolt.

Converted into a SS/C car at Wolverine Chassis around 1980 by Barrie Poole, sold to Brent Hajek, then Al Rowland.

    Dennis

It's a nice car, but too many incorrect details to be an original T-Bolt. Looks like a Crites kit.
