Very nice. Did you know that with very little modifications you can bolt a '58 Edsel nose on to a '57 or '58 body?? Really looks neat on the '57 and '58 Rancheros.
My first car was a 57 4 door sedan. 312 auto. It had the best heater on any car I've owned but it was a 4 door. I've had a custom 300 4 door that was a drag car and a 57 ranchero. My brother had a yellow and white 2 door hardtop. It was lowered. One of my all time favorites in car design. In between 57's or 58's, as long as their 2 door hardtops, I'm happy.
I built this in the last couple years. 5.0, AOD, discs, p.s. Not sure if the short wheelbase 57's were commonly fitted with the hockey sticks. But, when the rockers are a little wavy, they hide a lot of sins. I had a set on my daughters drag Fairlane, so I took them off and put them on the wagon. I got a lot of positive comments, plus they hid my less than professional bodywork.
The Hockey sticks were an add-on (and very rare for the customs and wagons, common on the Fairlane 500) for at least '57. Not sure if it was available for '58 but it was the same body style thru the lover rear front fender and the rocker panels. Beautiful wagon! Looks like Courrier (sedan delivery) body side moldings.
I'm a chevy guy at heart but I like anything mean looking & fast!I just bought a 57' 2 door wagon delrio going with the nose up stance!be a lil different! I'll try to get pics of its rough ol' carcass later!
A Chevy guy who buys a '57 Ford - ah, there is hope out there! the '57 Del Rio's are a very nice looking car, it was Fords answer, and a very good one, to the Nomads.
In New Zealand ,Auckland in the late 60s there was a legendary 57 Ford called SHIFTY SEVEN .Blue and white anniversary model .Bit of a sleeper as it ran an injected motor.dont know what cubes, but it was unbeatable in its time .Queen st , Beaumont st regular cruiser.raced for cash I believe .
update on the 57 del rio!worked on it a lil bit today since it was unusually warm outside! now I got the fever!
My '58... I thought I wanted it to be a '57 when it grew up, but now I'm into it! It's my daily and still has a 292. The rear is same except for the bumper guards, even though a lot of experts have insisted that I must have put a '58 front end on a '57...
496/transbrake equipped p-glide,blower,custom ground solid bump stick, roller rockers, twin dominators, fender well headers,3.5" custom exhaust,4.11 pro gear,8.8 rear light moser axles and light spool, speedway front str8 axle kit, front and rear disc brakes...cant forget about safety!
That's young people speak for bitchin` Ron...times are a changin', not so much for the good I must say...
Cant see, "I feel so sick when I got layed." Just not workin for me. OahuEli; its lunch time here,eh.
Depends on the girl. 59 Ford parts don't belong anywhere near a 57. I'm sure there is someway somebody can make it work, but I'm just not seeing how.
ive got a 57 sedan that hopefully ill actually be able to work on this year this is my 2nd 57 sedan the first one i had i was at the most 19 it sat in a nieghbors front yard for at least 12 years by the time i got it therewasnt much left of the floors it had a 63 t-bird 390 , toploader and supposedly 4;10 gears i was to un experienced at the time and it needed to much work so i traded it off so im buiding my current one in kind of a tribute to my first so YEAH im into them
For you 57 guys, these are from an old Ford dealership, now on my wall. They show the huge advantage that Ford has over Chevy in 57.
