  2. As you can see from my signature the signup will open 5/15. Please don't email me, PM me, or call me with your signups - you can sign up via our website when it opens on 5/15. Then it downloads directly into my database and streamlines my workload.

To echo what Magnet said - we are both handing off some tasks to the other fellas. I will still coordinate volunteers and run the command center - but the other boys are really stepping up to the plate w/ a lot of the misc other stuff we've been doing. Props up. They worked hard scouting out MANY locations in order to come up with the most suitable one, and they've done a fine job indeed.

Hope to see y'all there, biatches. :D

  3. Rooms booked, and excited. Thanks guys! The road trip now is double, but fuck if i care, it worth it!

Looks like Progress City will be an improved venue with plenty of room and glad to hear the locals are supportive. Got the hotel booked and ready to go rain or shine, hot or cold. Also, will gladly wear that Red Shirt again this year.

Great Job Chrome Czars & DW!!!
Also, kuddos to Bombers for stepping up and taking on the Swap Meet!!!
It is a huge undertaking and they will handle it like pros.

Yea, being from Kenosha myself, it is a long drive if you can't spend the night, and have to be somewhere the next day.But don't despair! The Hunnert Car Heads Up is held right down the road at Great Lakes Drag-a-way, another premium, Chrome Czars event!!:)

Well-put Magnet! The swap will be probably small, but focused. We have faith in the Bombers. We are also looking forward to working with our other club friends, the Suedes, Blacktop Barons, Miss Fires, Voodoo Kings, and more! The Red Shirt Army rules!

I'll post up some hotel info later. There are plenty of rooms to go around.

Thanks for the Heads-Up plug, Nick! - May 8, Hunnert Car Heads-up Nostalgia Drags at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI!!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! We're stoked to have the Bombers step up and join the circus! :D And a personal thanks to the Red Shirt Army for all the blood sweat and tears. I know we keep saying it over and over, and I don't want it to become cliché, but the inclusion of the volunteers into the scope of the show really was integral in our deciding if we were able to continue or not.

Here's a sneek peak at the upcoming show postcards. I think you'll recognize who it belongs too...

Glad to see you were able to keep the show going. Says a lot about your committment to our hobby. Maybe in a year or two you will have to move it to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway :D

Great! Now if I can only find time to put the ol' wagon on the road by then, this could be the best one yet. I've been rollin' shotgun with Berto since the shoebox went bye-bye. Anyway, really good to hear the show will continue another year, because as someone else said, it really is just a big, wierd family reunion.

Well, I was really excited until I found out there won't be any Sham Wows at the swap meet. Come on Mike, maybe a couple of shlocky vendors just for fun? JK

Looking forward to a long weekend of hot rod hijinks. Count me in as a volunteer on Friday and Sat.

I pushed the '66 C10 into the garage last night, I need to get it running and made to look like a '64 so I can get past HCPU inspection. If that doesn't happen, I'll be driving the stock '60 F100 and looking like Farmer Forsythe in Forsyth.

Outstanding! After driving 30 hours to California, 16 hours to Texas, and 12 hours to the Jalopy showdown I will be happy to only have to drive 5 minutes to one of the best shows in the country.

If you are looking for directions just google Decatur, Illinois. The site is just north of ADM and shares the corner with Richland community college. It is basically at the corner of Highway 48 and I-72. The farm progress show is held here every 2 years and is capable of getting 30-50,000 visitors in and out of the show every day for 3 days.

Clinton is a nice old town. We used to cruise the square back in the day. Also to note is "Ted's Garage". It is a restaraunt in Clinton built in the old Chevrolet dealership. They usually have a car or 2 on display and is a nice place to eat. http://www.teds-garage.com/Index.html

Also in Clinton is the Nuclear Power facility. Bring your fishing pole and catch one of the 6 foot long mutant catfish that live there because the lake never freezes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton_Nuclear_Generating_Station

I'm REAL glad to see the swap meet back also. I'ts fun to hit that while you're there too.
I went to the Lion's club meet last year, and it was definately not near as good as the "specialty" swap the year before at the fairgrounds.

  20. Not sure if I can make it this year (yet!) but THANK YOU for all of your hard work in relocating the event to a different venue!!! And THANK YOU to the Bombers for running the swap meet!!! I am on the board for a rather large show here on the east coast, and I can tell you that the smallest details can be the biggest pain in the ass! The guy who bitched about the location of the swap meet would have gotten my vote to be the guy to run the thing, that's for sure! When I used to run the local Mopar club, that's how I INSTANTLY stopped the bitching and complaining... Someone would walk up to me complaining about some thing or other, I'd listen & smile, and then congratulate them for being voted that area's chairman/woman for next year! One of two things always happened... they'd either shut up and walk away, or they'd dive in and make something better happen.

Now that you mention it, there are VERY few swap meets in the Mid-Atlantic area any more! So ANYTHING is better than NOTHING! (Except the Shamwow guy...)

THANKS again! Hunnert Car Pileup is one of the best events that I have EVER attended!!! Please keep it as much the same as you can! (No trailers, no billet, no digital gauges or visible EFI...)

While I'm sad I won't be making it to the Grundy County fairgrounds, I'm really excited to hear the show will live on!

Is there camping near the new venue?

You might try this park. It is about 10 minutes away from the show. There were rumors of it being shut down due to budget cuts.

Also, there are numerous campgrounds around Clinton Lake.

There will be camping available VERY near by. I can't remember the layout now but i believe it to be very very close.

Thanks a ton to everyone for being patient with us and understanding. I can't wait for this years and know it's going to be a great time.

I know during the farm progress show they allow camping right there on the grounds somewhere. The best part of this site is that they have REAL bathrooms with running water and everything. They are only a few years old so they are really nice.

I believe there will be primitive camping on site, but we have to work out those details yet. We'll keep you posted.

The closest hotels are the Holiday Inn Express, Baymont Inn, Comfort Inn, Country Inn, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Ramada Ltd, and Homewood Suites in Forsyth/Decatur.

The Sleep Inn is maybe 1 mile from Progress City.

There's also America's Best, Day's Inn, Hawthorn, Decatur Conference Center, Intown Motel, Lakeview Motel, Decatur Inn, Sandy's Motel, Soy City Motel, Econo Lodge, Tri-Manor Motel... and that's just IN Decatur. We have not investigated ANY of these hotels, so we cannot reccommend any of them. Look them up in Travelocity, Orbitz, etc for exact locations, reviews and prices.

Other things to do in Decatur should you decide to stay a few days:
    Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum
The Transfer House (for you train guys)
    Macon Speedway (stock cars)
    Long Creek Vineyard
    Children's Museum
    Oriental Gardens
    a zoo
and at least 2 antique malls

Here's HALF of the Progress City show area. Notice the lack of puddles, mud, dust potential, or gravel. :D I forgot to mention that they have all indoor restroom facilities. Enough to handle the crowd, too.

I forgot to get a picture of downtown Decatur, but it's really cool with some good old restaurants.

Here's the town square in Clinton. Notice the vintage starburst above one of the buildings. :D If negotiations go well with the town, we'll have the entire square for hot rods only.

Take my (opinion) or leave it. ?WHAT part of my post didn't you understand?("Not cool at all, if it means that the swap meet will be stuck off somewhere away from the main show. I find it odd to think you view a swap meet as something that's too big of a hassle for your full attention..............")

Thanks JR, but I'd prefer just dropping it. There's no point in arguing. It's a unique swap, and we are happy to bring the swap back. We're also happy that the Bombers volunteered to run it. Let's not cater to the negativity of a small minority.
