  5. Okay, guess I'll leave it alone. Didn't want to push the limits, but you can see how it fits.

I'm working on a badass Foyt tribute now. Some won't like it, but it will have an edge, and just maybe land on the mark.

AJ -if you're reading this, it's meant to be a compliment.

Probably Don Nordhorn, but I`m not 100 percent sure.
Car 6 didn`t make the results. I also wonder who was in the Yellow #14....

I believe the photos are from the March race.

    Spike,

After checking my USAC yearbook-Don Nordhorn was driving the #6 Van Winkle Sprint in 1972 and finished 7th in points.

Also my own question on the #14-seems to be the Steve Stapp Sprinter that was driven by George Snider in 1972. Not sure if that is Ziggy in the photo...

    Hey Billy ..

    Right you are.

I knew some who excelled in full midgets &/or sprints who often said .. 'If you want to stay sharp, you gotta run the TQ's at Pinebrook (NJ).'

BTW -- both Gary & Mark (Gimmler) continue to do well in sprints in Florida. Gary has a brand new car to run this season (his first "brand new" ride ever). The race mentioned that he finished second in, might have been the shake down run for that ride (with Gary's home built engine in it).

Now if you want to feel OLD .. Marks son is about to start out in TQ's !!!!!

    A little more NW history.
In 1948, Tacoma car owner Leo Dobry dropped 20 large on a brand new KK2000/Offy, hired Jack Beckley to wrench it and towed it around in a glass enclosed trailer. Other than McGrath putting it on the front row at Indy 49 and Geo. Hammond winning Pikes Peak in 52 it didn't have a lot of success and, it seems, was only raced rather sporadically until around 55.

Every time I see him throw his gloves after the 77 500, I wish my arms were 5 feet longer...I just missed catching them.

I finally dugup the after pics of Busson's Reading USAC crash. The chassis was badly broken as evident looking at the cage. Karl was very lucky...

On seeing that the 1969 deadline isn't strictly adhered to any longer, may I ask the community for help on this one? This car was campaigned by Len Tetrault out of the Chicago area in the late seventies. I know that John Lucas of Advance (IN) failed to qualify it for a 1977 USAC show at Terre Haute, and later that year Tom Mislich of Odell (IL) took a couple of top ten finishes in open comp events in Georgia, and possibly qualified for one or two WoO shows at Eldora the next year. I can't be sure, but Bob Hale of Calumet City (IL) may have raced it in the early eighties at Santa Fe and perhaps other tracks of the region.

These pictures were posted by a fellow on another board, and he claims to be the guy posing in it, but since he has a propensity for tall stories this may not be him at all. Anyway, the car is clearly a bit of an antique for its time, and that fellow said it was ten years old when the pictures were taken, and that it was driven by Bubby Jones and Larry Cannon in its heyday. I know that both drove Midgets for Tetrault earlier in the seventies, but the only Sprint Car that I can find driven by both is the 1972 Richard Blacker USAC #11 "Tri-R Builders", and I can't find pictures of it. Anyone know anything about this car, or have a picture of the Blacker car? Thanks.
