From these pics it looks as if the 57 could still be in decent condition.

Wouldn't that suck if and when it's found, if it's been "updated", TPI, dare I say billet, etc...

Wow! That's great to see those photos! So what's the final verdict? Was the engine pushed back out under the hood or did it still have the setback?

the motor was up front when i got it the magazine pics showed it inside i put a motor in it and drove it.that 55 you had was killer also!

  15. Well, it looks like we were able to chase this car from the 70's up to 1995. Hopefully somebody will pop in with some new info. The reality of it is that if somebody really replaced the floors and firewall with stock parts it may never be found. Take away the radical setback and change the rolling stock and this 57 could appear to be just another straight axle 57. I hope not though...

Thanks Jake! My car had some serious engine setback also but not quite to the extent of the Glover car. That was one of my favorite things about my '55 being the engine setback. Several people commented that the car really "needed" fenderwell headers to be a "Gasser"! Well, if they had seen how far back the engine was set, they would have understood that there was no to install a set of fenderwell headers!

mike did say that the firewall replacement was a little rough and there was no dash. even with the motor back in the stock location, it's still odd enough to stand out from the rest of the red '57 chevy's out there...

I'm not feeling so good - the thought that Dan's AWESOME '57 might have fallen into bad hands and been resurrected into who knows what saddens me. Let's hope that it is in loving hands and being cherished for what it is - a piece of our fantastic car loving teenage years! Please keep looking you guys!
