Rich, this is the first time I've seen the thread. The work looks great and I can wait to see the finished car. Can you post up a picture of that gauge cluster? Any idea what it's out of? Thanks!

Finally figured out how I wanted to construct the new subrails/floor assembly. Which presented a tiny bit of a challenge because the body was originally welded to the frame, and I couldn't afford to lose any interior space nor raise the body from the original design. Also, the body needed to be better supported, so I came up with the idea to construct new subrails that channeld the body....

  13. Are you gonna weld the body back to the frame when it's ready to be mounted again?

No, if I was going to do that; it would have been done long ago.

  15. Just curious...
I know you're gonna do an awesome job! We talked a few years back...I picked your brain about the Holy Heck car. One of my all time favorites!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this resto turns out.
    Keep us posted!

"Fishtails" may or may not be cool on a Harley but are tasteless on a hotrod!!!!

  19. No sorry, I should have clarified. I've got a bad memory, but I'm pretty sure that it was 3 or 4 years ago now. Bounced a few emails back and forth and we spoke over the phone. Young guy from Nova Scotia, Canada, looking for advice on my first build....

I was planning on building a roadster and was inspired by the Holey Heck build. As soon as I discovered the car online I had to tell you how much I loved it, firstly, and I just needed to know some of the ideas that went into the car.

I'm sure you're in demand and that you talk to a alot of people, so it's O.K. if I'm not jogging your memory. I certainly appreciated you taking the time to give me some advice and fill me on that awesome roadster.

Like I said before, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more projects coming out of your shop and I'm sure you're gonna do that roadster resto justice.

p.s. I decided to build a pickup instead! lol...but now regretting that a bit...only because I think I would have finished it by now. Roadster will be #2

The fishtails were added sometime in the late seventies or early eighties and they were unceramoniously cut off a few weeks ago! The roadster originally had fabbed side pipes.

Still moving ahead on the roadster, lots of little tedious things are done, plus got the rear bumper mounted in a better manner, body bracing, the dashboard has been fine tuned a bit, floorpanels are finished, pedal assembly hung etc etc. Closing in on being done with the body metal work.

  26. Looks like you're gaining momentum!

I was just looking back at those chassis pics....were there any mods done to that rear cross member or spring? It looks a little lower than stock. (The wheels are turning in my head if you can't already tell)
