Help, anybody have any old tach. pics?

What did they run in the late 50's & early 60's style?

As far as period style tachs go, I would imagine anything chrome and not too big. And most likely a black face...

Sun red "football logo" with transmitter box, or mechanical Jones. both where aval. in 1959. Do a search for tachs, Ryan started one back in 06 I think. Todd

Red Football tach by Sun. W/ EB-12 MAG transmitter. If you are running a Distributer and have a battery on board the car you would need a EB-9 transmitter box. For some damn reason I can't get the picture to load, look at the last pic's on the Hollish post and you can see it and the tach box. Todd

Thanks guys, you all helped with my tach question.

It had a mount and tried to fill it, but I didn't have the right one.

I want it to be right!

    Thanks again,

    Mike

Now some seat pics, the seat is the way it came. The thread was wet and falling apart. So I had it fixed and new padding too.

Now, I'm having trouble with the carb stacks.

Looking at the old pics and trying to find something around town on short notice. Can't find anything. Tried to find chrome exhaust tips, but no luck.

Tennis ball fall in my stacks too? So, maybe my carbs are bigger? 3-1/16th" OD.

I'm going to polish the sand blasted one, to see how that looks.

Car has to be ready Thursday.

Oh, and changed valve covers back to match the old pics.

Here are some other tachs I have. But maybe I shouldn't show it with one?
Sence I don't know what they ran.

  20. I'd run a tach can you clamp one to the steering column?

Great restoration/rebuild, and thanks for taking all the pics.

The steering shaft is all that is there. They used a column mount and hose clamped it to the roll bar. It was mounted there when they ran it. It had a build up of black tape and a hose clamp left there when I got the car.

Dang this is fun to watch. I had considered bidding on this car on Ebay even though I have no experience working on same. It's great to see the right person has this thing under his roof.

Looking forward to seeing some pics from W of Wls.

Oh, and thanks 33 PLY 440 for posting pics from Ken & Carol.

Will car stay as-is (blue) or will it transition to red? Good lord, red/blue... are we now bringing politics into this?!!!

The old pics are awesome...Black n white, red, blue, green tint etc. Glad all the car is there, you should have fun taking it out. Youll get a lot of attention and plenty of conversation too...

WOW! Now we have the proof, so the car was RED and the car was from Wisconsin.

Now, anybody seen this car in Wis. We want to find the builder and, or owner!

Track pictures and info? This has more history! It's before 1963, back in Wis., how much better can it get!

A BIG THANKS TOO KEN & CARLO !!!

    We LOVE THOSE PICS!

I've looked through the thread and don't see any mention of this... but what class would this have raced in 'back in the day'?

Jay, (the guy I got the car from) said that the car was red at first, when the Thumpers bought it, back when I bought the car.

Just found out today, that it was bought in Wis.

    B/comp Class

And if you have time you could help by seeing when Rock Falls Dragway in Wis. started? It would of had to be there in '57-'61, to have had this car ran there. Thanks and good luck!
