    Dang, that is impressive.

Modern pop (or beer) cans are on average .0106 thick...sometimes it seems the ink and liner are thicker than the can itself!

I'm all for doin the work yourself but man, if you had to repair your can it would have been a lot easier to buy another one. Probably cheaper too.

I brazed the tab closed for a refrigeration class.

Can was maybe 1/4 full of water, after you brazed the tab closed, instructor turned it over and if any leaked you failed. Extra credit deal.

I have never seen the gum wrappers welded together but I have heard of people doing it. Any one have any pics?

  10. Wouldn't it make the gum go all gooey?

when i was in high school. a guy came to see my band at a show. i broke a bass string, and he told me to give it to him, and he'd take it home and weld it up for me. he told the same thing to my drummer when he cracked on of his cymbals.
we laughed it off, but he was serious. it just goes to show ya. . . .

No cans, but I used to tig thermo-couple wires together at one shop I used to work at that did tranny dyno work for the big 3. they would have me strip a 1/2" of insulation, on the wires that were 010-020 in dia. and made of dis-simmilar alloys , one always melted at a lower temp...ususally just after the hi -frq. estabished an arc with the machne on its lowest setting the low temp alloy was balling up and the other wasnt near hot enough yet.. re strip the wires and start with the one that needed more heat...after 10-20 it was a piece of cake...:D

I'm sure Mr James would be able to pull something like this off. Then take it one step further, just because he can.
