The photo is reversed in one of them. Note that the steering is on the left side in one, and the right in the other.
The Kiwis told me that they used to crash cars on the lakes, and then pick the wreckage clean of speed parts if they driver was killed. In one instance, a guy, his girl and his friend were packed in his roadster, crashed, killed them all, impaled the girl on the shifter and all the others watching ran out and picked the car clean while she was still hanging..........and I'm not talking Bonneville official drags either, just a bunch of kids out on the lakes doing their thing in the day. Wonder how much of that was bs?
I think I got these from a guy on the Stovebolt a few years ago, I can't remember the story. Including the before. MONGO
No, you are correct. Actually, it looks like it's even a custom job! Look at the side trim. Seems like Pontiac trim. And the fender skirts.
I'm almost positive this wreck happend in my town in 1968. I remeber seeing the car as a kid. Got any more info about where it happend?
The pic is on the Cars in Barns site, though I originally found it somewhere else. The info with the pic on Cars in Barns is: "69 GTX totalled back in May '69...pic was taken two weeks later...3 guys died - hit a large tree and the cops left it here on display for a couple of weeks...was a column shift car" Doesn't say where it happened...
