Well it's been about a month since I traded my '26 Ford T Bucket (The Hussy) away to my good friend Jeremy. It was a pretty effortless trade since I was looking to get a car my family could ride along in and he was looking raise all sorts of hell in. We are set to have a baby boy this July so this '52 Mercury is going to be perfect!!!!

We did not trade straight up. There were other details in the trade which leveled the playing field and let us come away feeling completely satisfied with our end of the deals.

The car was originally a California car and came here by the way of our fellow club member Dustin (sinticket). He ended up trading the Merc for my old '26 to another friend Mike (Big O). Mike then had the car for a while and ended up trading it to Jeremy for a bunch of cars. And finally, Jeremy after about 6 months of owning traded it to me for my '26. So in essence, I have another impudent little lady on my hands!!!

The car has a few things that need to be address before I am driving again. The original engine was replaced with a 0 mile rebuilt 8BA Flathead rebuilt by Dustin's Uncle Harold. I need to fire the motor this week when I get some oil and hook up some lines. Jeremy also installed a T-5 transmission which will need some bugs worked out I'm sure. After that all the windwing windows will need to be cut down so that everything is functional and I can keep the family warm when it's cold out.

    So here it is...
    1952 Mercury
    4" chop
    Rebuilt Flathead
    T-5 Transmission
Full Tuck and Roll Interior (no iron cross'....damn)

    Plans for it include...
    '54 Mercury Quarter "Teeth"
    Shaved Antenna
Full Wheel Covers (Sombreros or '52 Merc)

    Later down the road....
    7.10 Firestones w/2.75" WW
    Fully finished trunk with pleats
'56 Buick Tahitian Red (Lloyd Baken Coupe Color)
Perhaps find a cool bumper/grill to use (open to ideas)

That's a GREAT effin trade! I know you'll miss that IRON CROSS...........but don't worry, I'll whip one out in felt and VELCRO for you.

If you go red, go gold on the wheels..........it'll give it a nice RICH and CLASSY look once caps are on it.

She'll be a stunning MAN HANDLER once you get her dialed in. =O)

Check! on the Iron Cross. I need that thing back on the car! I mean I feel like it's missing it's flavor without it and I need to bring it back.

Check! On the Gold too! The motor is a coppery gold right now so I was thinking of putting the gold on the "ribbs" on the '52 Merc Covers. If it's Sombreros then I might paint the centers gold. I'd like to tie that gold into the interior somehow but I am not sure how. The interior is pretty much all said and done with black and white seats and door panels as well as a white headliner. Gold IRON CROSS on the Headliner????? Perfect!!!

I might call it the Iron Hoss.

How many time can I say Iron Cross in one post?? Iron Cross, Iron Cross!!!

I don't want to rip to much off Morty's Merc!!! Love that car and it's actually the reason I wanted to get this one. If my car turns out 1/1000 as nice as his I'll be a happy happy man! Those '53 Merc caps would look really cool but I got the original Sombreros (repopped for Ford Wheels) already so I am going to try those.

Hey Zach, what wheel covers did you photoshop on my car? Those are rad!

  23. Can't beat those Mercs, I'd trade my 27 for that anyday. I love the photo shop version. I'd lose that hood scoop and punch some louvers. The grill needs some rework.

Thanks! I feel pretty special for the invite!

So are these the First series sombreros? It says 48-52 which is the ones I thought I bought for the car so that would be cool. From a front view wheel covers take on a whole new look because the reflection bounces off the sides and makes them look more intricate then they actually are. Those look like that have more ribs or ripples but I think it's just the refection onto itself.
