I hope you get it finished up and not trade the old girl off like everybody else has. I was wondering if everybody in the Iron Lords was going to eventually own the Merc. So I hope you keep her and treat her right.

I'd just paint the back wheels black and go with it.

    Whoa!! Thanks man!!!

Well I grow pretty attached to cars. If I had a family suited car the '26 would have been buried with me. I'll probably own this one for a long long time my friend.

I think your talking about Mark Morton's from Hop Up.

  6. Who did you get the Sombreros from? My buddy wants some for his Merc...

J.J Got to agree with Zach's photoshop. Looks very sleek in the red/maroon color. Also like the wheel cover and accent colors. Looking forward to updates on "Iron Hoss" !

JJ, that car is Dyno-O-Might!!! Always dug this car and glad to know it found a good home, seems to get passed around. It has so much potential. I think those Olds Fiesta Caps that Chris has (they're two styles, with Saturn or Crest). Take a look at Bill Gaylords '52 Olds.

You'd be correct on the '49-'50 rear window. I'll try to get some more pics this week. Right now the car is at our shop. I would like to get it home this week.

I agree on what you say about the Good Year Super Cushion, very cool tire. However, the 6.70 Good Year has a 4 1/4" WW which sure looks great but I think it's too wide for your kind of car/body style. It fits better on a Custom from 1939 to maybe 1951,better late 40's.To me,early to mid 50's cars need a "smaller" WW than 40's cars.Another cool tire is the 6.70 BF Goodrich with 3 5/8" WW like Jimmie Vaughan has on his '54 Ford.Very good looking tread pattern and overall shape.A serious contender. Here are a couple pics of JLV's car which had smaller WW's at some time. You decide what looks better !

Very nice, JJ. I like the side profile a lot. If you do go with the deep wine color this car will be stellar. I'm always impressed by the photoshop skills around here.

Thank TheFrenZ!! Yeah I see my car on the Rikster Site before I owned it. Really the only change it has now it the stance is a little lower and the rear tailights have been swapped for '58 Corvette units. Some dude will like them others won't but I think they fit the car really well.

JV's car is absolutely my favorite custom ever! I had to talk to Mr. Howard last year at the roundup and tell him that because I love that car so much! If I could get the stance dialed in and the tire/cap combo looking like this I would be so stoked!!!

Thanks again guys for the nice words. I am going to start saving my nickels so that I can paint the car next winter perhaps. Might have to sell off a few things to do it right but I think this car needs it.

Anybody know who built it????? I know my friend Dustin got it off Axle from the shifters but not sure before that.

Congrats. Great looking custom. Partial to 52-54 Mercs and Lincolns. Got some 56-57 Lincoln hubcaps though they are not the Premiere. They could make it to Charlotte for the April Autofair.....

  24. Man I am glad you guys got that all worked out...that is one sweet ride and family comes first after all...dig your plans for it but it's pretty sweet right now. Can't wait to see it in person...gonna be back there in a few weeks for a preliminary trip to drop off some business equipment at my shop and also to drop off the 46 chevy pickup I am getting from Rocky and then a few weeks after that the whole family should be there. (and of course I will be bringing along a load of run on sentences)

Awesome! I would love to take a look at those caps man. Right now I am not suppose to be putting money into anything but my '35 or only things that is going to get the Merc back on the road. Who now though, by then I might have some cash for them!!! Send me pics of them if you can and make sure you come to our Iron Lords Party after auto fair on Saturday. I am pretty sure we are having something again this year.

It's nice to hear real custom guys digging it. Thanks man!

I love run on sentenced and can't wait for you to move here Ken! We need more dudes that know what's up around here and I think you're going to love it! Iron Lords need shirts done so hurry up!
