Uh, so I need not worry about the issue that prompted me to start this thread?

Is anyone running Hurst tires whereby the cap seems to be separating (peeling away) from the carcass on the inside, almost all the way around? (On both tires, which have never been on the road).

Just wondering, because I would like to avoid having them removed from my wheels, and shipping them back, etc. if this is something you guys have seen and is a non- issue.

  2. Yes, mine did that and are still in use. I bought mine when Ron owned the company and he offered to look at them but I was having too much fun.

That recap data up above is right. We run 100s of recaps at work on our fuel haulers. We have had only a couple blowouts in the 2 years I have been there. One of which was a virgin tire, NOT a recap. Most of the casing you see by the road are from underinflation or tire damage because the driver didnt let his air get up adn drug a tire.

FWIW, I watch a new radial spin the tread off on a steep 60 mph hill here on Hwy 16 going to Mt Rushmore. Dodge truck was ahead of me and the tread did this beyuuuutioful dismount and spun down the road, the casing was still holding air when I pased the guy.

Gota set on my roadster, and am more concerned with the re pop all new Firestone's on the front.

Loud and clear on the imported cheep azz tires. I have had many acquaintances have catastrophic tire failure with them and they were properly maintained.

I've had Hurst white wall slicks on my car for three years, close to 12000 miles, it's a model A ford and I run a 512cid caddy putting out close to 500hp and 600ft/lbs and I beat it, burnout's, long distance freeway use, racing and haven't had a problem yet. I think most problems with these tires is heat caused by wrong tire pressure.
I would recommend Hurst to anybody.

What do you mean by "documented"?
So its only a bad thing if the cap COMES COMPLETLY OFF THE TIRE?
It it just seperates from the tire like he is asking thats not bad?

most recaps have a feather edge left after the assembly
the fact that this is only on the in side on both makes me think that the outside was cleaned [buffed] up during inspection ?
POST PHOTOS HE WHATS TO HELP YOU!!!
all tires are make the same way out of multiable parts put in a mold indivualy &cured with heat each tire depends on a human to control this
look at a nascar race if the PERSON building the tire goofs the tire comes apart

I've had mine for a few years and about 12k miles, lots of smokey burnouts and sliding corners, and even rough gravel roads no problems what-so-ever!!!!
When I bought them they had great customer service and fast turn around.
I haven't seen anyone who ran a set and had an actual problem, I think there are just a few people that will talk poorly about a product without any actual experience, just to have something to say.$.02

Dude why not just be a dick about it?
How many sets have you bought?
You honestly think these people are getting on here and posting a "fake experience" about tires they have bought just to have something to say?
You are calling out alot of people on here as being liers.
I have 6 sets......... would you consider that "actual experience?"
You know i wasnt gonna be a dick about this but go check out my albums, see if thats enough experience for you.

I got nothing against Cody or his Company, i love how the tires look, im not throwing away the other sets i have but i will rethink what their use will be in the future.

Say what you want Cody, the guy was calling me out so i said my mind.
Dude i told you i had nothing against you, you still have the PMs i sent you here on the HAMB?
You still have my emails? lol
I bought several sets from Speedway as late as last year, guess they had old tires..... when i contacted you and you asked if i had the original reciept? Where i bought them? And what was it you told me about buying the tires from Speedway? You remember? Think back?

3 of my customers bought your tires (or whoever you say was building them) I gave them their money back and took the tires back no question.
I did get in touch with Speedway, Speedway are REALLY GREAT PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH.
They took care of me, great customer service.... NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
You say they arent your tires? If thats the line you wanna go with kool.. they are the OTHER Hurst tire company.
You say the NEW tires are safe, kool, looks like i got old tires last year. I just wanted to say that if you have a street car thats fine.... you have a fast car?... Are RECAPS what you want? BUY REAL RACE TIRES guys, lesson learned for me.
This is not my first car, our family has built and RACED RACE CARS, DRAG CARS etc since the 70s.

So below are the pics of the HURST tires i have, bought last year and the year before .... made by somebody else Cody says, all this i didnt know, guess its not like buying a Goodyear tire at Sears is it? lol :D

You guys asked for pics? Heres pics.
These are what i call the bubble tires, these are the tires i had to buy back myself, bubble comes up, one popped the others didnt.
These are the two sets of tires i got from Speeday late last year.
I DIDNT KNOW I WASNT SUPPOSED TO BUY TIRES FROM SPEEDWAY... that is what you are saying right?
Hurst tires made by some other tire company?
I have bought TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in parts from SPEEDWAY over the years and so has my family, so they will take care of their customers.
Like i said, i have 3 other sets that are fine, love em, BUT i cant sit here and say i have never had a problem when somebody asks if anybody has had a problem.
Is it wrong for me to speak up when the guy asked?
Or should i sit back and say nothing with several sets of unusable tires sitting in the shop?

I really wasn't "calling you out", and if you felt that way I apoligize. What I was refering to was the people chiming in to say they suck without any supporting, or relivant facts to back it up(having read your posts and seen your pictures i definatly can understand your concerns). It is getting very dificult to find an american manufacture that supports our hobbie at a fair if not inexpecive price and I hate to see cody's reputation taking such a beating.
So to make everyone feel beter retract what I stated earlier to just say that I have had good luck with the hurst tire and will buy more.

Opinions are fine fellas... "Calling each other out" and getting all dramatic is not. This conversation should move to a pm exchange.
