Maybe someone here can answer this question. Where do spectators park with large trailers (24ft)? They want to charge me like $75 to park thru gate 15. They said if I was bringing a car to sell then it would only be $25 to park after the car is unloaded but if I am just coming empty then its $75 if not $100. Any one Thanks
I asked the guy when I called if I could put a for sale sign and he said all vehicles "for sale" had to fit with in there designated areas. He told me to call around to find a KOA camp sight and I thought that was stupid, why if out of state spectators are coming to buy cars from vendors that pay a fee why was it so expensive to park.. Oh and he said we still had to pay entrance fee per person..I dont mind paying $25 to park and then per person but I will be damned if I pay $75 or more plus fee to enter per person.
ok well those are the rules I understand for SELLERS. I am not a seller. I am looking to buy. So where to BUYERS park there trailers.
Bring the car/ trailer into the spectator entrance early- pay for preferred parking if you want to. You won't be inside the show but so what. When you buy your shit (or car) they will allow you to move your rig right up to gated entrance & load it there.
Bring a wagon for small stuff & make trips back & forth to trailer. Buy a car- move rig to pick up. I think parking is 8 bux, maybe 10. Then 8 bux each for entry. That's how most buyers do it.
Thats what sounded right but I called the guy off the pamona swapmeet website and he said they would not allow me in the gate with a 24ft trailer. This is why the question. I have been to the swap many times to look for parts and never brought a trailer and dont recall seeing any on the spectator side. This was the only reason why I brought up gate 15. The guy I called said that was the ONLY way to get my trailer parked. That the staff at the spectator gates would not allow a 24ft trailer in that parking area and that if I did not want to pay the money to park thru gate 15 to call and find a KOA to rent a space drop my trailer drive to the swap buy what ever I wanted go pick up my trailer and come back to pick up. THanks for your help.
SOunds like somebody is trying for a little additional profit at your expense there. Looks like they just invented a new meaning for the prefix "Pre", too. "Pre 1975 includes the model year 1975 and older and Pre 1957 includes the model year 1957 and older." Here in Texas we just say 1975 and older or 1957 and older. Welcome to California.
Yeah, thats was I was thinking and was trying to see what others are doing that are coming from out of state to BUY. the guy made no sense, how bad is it for the sellers if they are running people off by making the trailers pay $100 to park. I will just stay home and find something else where. I am not cheap but I am not made of money and $100 seems exessive to me!
There's an empty parking lot across the street from the vendor entrance off Arrow, why not just drop it off there and come back to it when you buy your car? I've done this a few times with support vehicles when i sell stuff there.
Thanks, THats the best idea and I will try that. Its a little odd to think that a swapmeet that has alot of large items and non op cars would not have a slightly higher priced parking for trailers for spectators. Hope its a good swap!
That is the problem. You need to sign up as a seller/vender and toss a couple trinkets out and go shopping like everyone else does!
I have brought a trailer in through the standard buyer's parking lot in the past with no problem. So unless they have recently changed something, just go in gate 17 like the regular buyers, they have never said a word to me. Then again maybe they were mad because you spelled Pomona wrong ( just messing with ya)
I drove 800 miles to Pomona and very disapointed, The guys up here say it ain,t the same. Low rider chevyville.
Maybe you could find a Hamber that wants to sell a driveable car..meet him at the market up the road, load it, get in, dump it and park your trailer.. Thats what I would do.. Is it a regular car trailer? 24 feet overall, or something bigger? for seller spots, they give you 20 feet each, most trucks and car trailers fit in 2. You could park it along the back, but you are still paying to get in. Toss a few things in the back of your truck, its easy to come up with $100 worth of junk to sell. it covers the fees, and you have a "home base" to operate from. If you get a space way in the back, you will have room to maneuver your trailer. Keep an eye on the weather.... its Looking wet.
Exactly. It's no where near as good as it used to be. A lot of Chevy and lowrider stuff. You see all the gangsters walking around looking for Impala parts.
Well- I went to Pomona Swap today- with this topic on my mind. So when I entered the spectator entrance, I asked. Same price to enter w/ trailer but they will park you all the way on south end of lot. I noticed several other trailers in the spectator lot- on south side of the lot.
Nothing is. There's stuff there, you just have to look harder. I came home w/ a few cool finds. Beats the hell out of staying home & doing honey-do's.
That's fine, as long as it's not monitored...could get towed? Next time, post before you come, there may quite a few fellow HAMBers locally-within a mile or two, that might let you park at their pad. We gotta stick together. My .02
