Joy Fair won this race the year before (1982) on the dirt indoors! he beat several of the best dirt racers around and some big name cup guys too, he was in a rayburn house car and hadn't been on dirt in forever! I will have to get busy and dig up some of those shots too! this pic is one of mine, and I just stumbled on this site!

If any of you are old enough to remember Hudson Hornets, there is a good article about them (and some cool pictures) on the ARCA home page. http://www.arcaracing.com/
I am trying to locate Chuck Honea who was the Dixie Speedway track photographer before me and was also the NDRA series photographer. I (we, the GA Auto Racing Hall of Fame) are interested in some of his old photos.
Hey Allstar.....if this posts well enough that you can read it, you should recognize some of the names of the racers in the 1971 Permatex 250 @ Riverside.
Does anybody out there have, or know where I could get video of ANY kind from the old Fairgrounds Motor Speedway in Louisville, KY?
I could read some of the text but could not read the finishing order. If you could repost this as a picture instead of a thumbnail it should enlarge. I was there that day and it was a hell of a race. I was busy with the Ruggles Ford and you know how racing is you miss some of the action of the other cars. Proctors T-bird is what inspired me to build mine. allstarracing
Get with Greg Gibson at twistedmetalvideos.com. He has some that I gave him and has it on DVD. Allstarracing
Allstar's right. There's also at least one on YouTube. Search Fairgrounds Motor Speedway. It was taken from a home movie film and the cameraman was primarily shooting Andy Vertrees on a practice day.
Elder got to run daytona a few times too. In those days the West champion got a guaranteed slot. His best finish, I think, was 7th.
Sorry about that. I am having trouble with getting some pictures/articles to post as the files are coming out too large to be accepted by this site. I'm losing contrast by reducing the file size to fit. I can't do too much with what old pictures/ faded articles I've got here and there ****tered around my house somewhere. I'm glad I still have some of it left. The finishing order........ 1) Clem Proctor '63 T-bird 2) Gene Riniker '64 Olds 3) Bill Foster '64 Plymouth 4) Jim Skinner '65 Chevy 5) Dan Clark '63 Ford 6) Richard White '63 Ford 7) Sam Beler '62 Ford 8) Ed Pamforani '67 Ford 9) Sonny Easley '67 Chevy 10) Ron Hornaday '64 Ford Was that the year that Bill Foster sat on the pole? Proctor ran well at several of those races but usually finished behind Herschell McGriff. I think that this was the only year that he won at Riverside.

Sorry about that Elder at Daytona picture...........aaaarrrrrgh......I'll try again reducing the file size.............
One more try, Allstar. My wife (the resident computer expert) tried fiddling with the article size to enlarge it. When we click on the thumbnail for preview here, we can read the results. A small part of the article then got cut off but still interesting reading in the part that's left.
That wadded up #97 I believe was Red Farmer's car. I know that was his number and ran a similiar paint scheme.
Can anyone give me contact information on Hugh Simpler of Montgomery Alabama? This is follow up on my search for Chuck Honea. Thanks
