that hotrod linkin has not posted since yesterday, yet you guys are still creating drama. seems like you guys are trying to be the po po that polices the po po. why don't you just let it dye instead of bringing this thread back up to rag about it?? he posted what 2-3 times? let it go already.
Back to the subject... I was wondering if taking a grinder/sandpaper to the sidewalls of a tire can effect the safety or structure of the tire? I guess if you don't have to take much backwall off it's ok???
It only takes off the very thin layer of black covering the white. The white is actually molded into tire.
I was thinking, Damn, there really is a purpose for white letter tires. Now if someone could dig up that old white wall machine that the guy used to haul around to the car lots in central Texas in the early 70's when they thought they couldn't sell a car with black walls on it he would be in business.
Its funny you say that..I worked at Chevy dealer in Fla in the mid 80`s, there was a guy that used to do that all the time on the used car lot. Supposed to be a shop in San Antonio that will do your tires like that for 10 bux each. Worth it if they do it right.
Yup there still is a shop in San Antonio. Last and only one left that still owns the machine that shaves the white lettering or thin stripes into wide ones. Used there services twice. last time i was there is was bout 5bux a tire but may have changed. The shop is a locally run tire shop called Rodriguez Tire and Service on N. New Braunfels street. In San Antonio's eastside. They used to do them for the lowrider community here back in the day.

Please refrain from reposting the same reminders to do a search again and again throughout the HAMB. Had you done a search about reminders about doing a search, you might have found the official, "Do a search before posting!" thread. It's right here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...75#post4993375 Please, please, only post your reminders about, "doing a search first" on that thread. Don't post them any where else on the HAMB. We want them all in one place so we can have a greater dialogue. You, sir, are not following protocol.
The way they are thinking we would have 5 things to look at--a T post ,an A post ,a 40s post ,abitch post and an all the rest post. Its simple. Post it and listen to what you want to hear.
I painted my ralleys black, to hide them...well then they looked like cop wheels...then I put hubcaps on them. But your trim rings, black rims, and some sort of spider cap might work.
I think the Wide Whites you did look sweet...Been looking for a set for a while for my 52 Poncho....Time to look for some Dunlops to play with...Thank God he didn't mention RatRod....
