I would've bought that cab from you if you had posted it in the Classifieds.

Where would hotrodding be without imagination and personality?

Wow, you just may be right about being in the wrong place. Unlike you, I didn't read a bunch of crit that was hostile. You're "hot rodding" something that wasn't traditionally cut up and made into what you've got. Some see that as wasteful. If that isn't explicitly clear to you, you've missed something about hot rodding in your last 30 years.

To me, swimming against the current is okay... I have no problem with that. But then acting out because people aren't kissing your butt? That's just odd.

If you want to get an idea of the flavor of this place, check out the JalopyJournal articles and if you see anything that resembles what you've got here, post the link and I'm sure all the nay sayers will eat their words, me included.

Imagination and personality are great but style and heritage is important too.

There is nothing wrong with the fact that you modified the cab, a chopped top would be great on that build, but to just lop it off detracts from the value, style, the very soul of the old truck.

If life gives you lemon, make lemonade, or switch to tequila....If life give you apples, don't think you can make orange juice, trade the apples for oranges. Just saying if you wanted to go topless a roadster cab would have been easier and better looking.

Its your truck and you did with it what you want, the rest of us don't have to like the end result and that has been voiced. Don't let it get to you if your truly happy with what you got.

I am a firm believer in doing things your own way, but we should all have some respect for all things vintage, especially the tin.

Don't let a little constructive criticisim run you off.

I'm off the soap box for now, and thats my thoughts on it, take em or leave em!!

There is nothing imaginative about cutting the top off of a closed cab pick up, that takes a case of beer and a sawzall.... It's just wrong. You could have bought a roadster pick up for what the doors and cab were worth... And I don't think anyone would give you shit if you chopped it, but you cut the damn top off to build some psuedo roadster thing... I just don't get it, I guess it's the fact that most people would love to have a '28-9 closed cab, or just the doors, and you took it upon yourself to mame a perfectly good one... People these days I tell ya........:(:(:(:(

i personally wouldnt completely remove the top of anything simply because 1) i like to drive my cars all year and 2) it would look like total s&^% and have cause 100x more work trying to form panels to make it look like it wasnt just hacked off.

is that what you guys are saying here or is it just that he did it to a rare truck cab?

i personally dont like an unchopped 28-29 unless its full fendered and almost 100% original. if you hot rod one of those years, i believe it at least needs a bit of a chop...no need to blow the brains out though

i guess im not really understanding is what im trying to say
