    Hello:

Attached are two pics. The one on the left is the Jack Chrisman 1964 Comet and the one on the right is the Jack Chrisman 1965 Cyclone. It has been been published that the JC 1965 Cyclone was a re-paneled version on the SAME JC 1964 Comet! Of major concern is the rear Magesium wheel bolt patterns. Notice the 1964 Comet is the rare 5 lug by 4.5 inch small FORD/Mopar bolt pattern where the Red 1965 Cyclone has the 5 lug by 5.5 inch bolt pattern!

    1) How vital is it to maintain the small FORD bolt pattern on all four corners on a tribute A/FX 1965 Cyclone street build?

    2) Would you ever mix bolt patterns such as Chevy on the front and 5x5 Pontiac on the rear say on a FORD based A/FX build?

    3) Why would you say Jack chose to go a wider bolt pattern on the 1965?

    4) Would the small FORD bolt pattern be more prone to cracking since less edge margins for stress concentrations?

Please Comment and Thank You again!

I think that jack felt that the OCM put out about 500 more horsepower on bigger doses of nitro, plus the axles and were made a lot stronger. Did you ever hear the story of when the present owner bought the '65 car he asked jack if he knew the whereabouts of the '64 car, jack laughed and said "go out in your garage look under the red paint and you will find the'64 car"! true or not who knows? that's what i read about 15 yrs. ago in one of the car mags. later, matt.

Ken;Tim is OK,a little sore, mostly mad at himself. The Comet got banged up fairly bad but can be,and will be,repaired.I talked to him and he may go with the Crites fenders, hood and bumper. The side trim is repairable but the grill and headlight trim and assemblies are toast!Anyone have leads on the needed pieces? There were WAY too many crashes this weekend to alot of good cars and drivers! ROY.

Thanks Roy, I am happy to hear it's runnin' an injected 427FE backed up by a toploader 4 speed trans. His '65 has a great stance and looks the part! Keep us posted! ........John :)

John;he also has a wicked T-Bolt clone, runs mid 9s,500+"FE,C-4.He has had that Comet for a long time,it will be a street, strip car as the Hilbournes have been converted to electronics.Todd is like most of us and can only afford a little at a time, plus he does a lot of trading and haggling for pieces! Should be getting it back out of paint and body some time next week. Saw it on Saturday morning, and its looking just fine.

We dropped off Ernies Fairlane at another painter, to do some blending in on the quarter panels:

The break between the doors, and rear quarter just is too much for a color match. I did get to drive it out on the street, in front of the paint shop. A bit scary, and Ernie wants me to take it for a lap!!! HAH!! WE'll see you out on the track!

Hey Roy, I may have some of the stuff, potmetal headlight mounts and
maybe headlight surrounds extention chrome if he goes to glass fenders.
What else? It would be his for the shipping cost
I'll look through the stuff to see condition.

Fred;WOW,thank you!!! He will need headlight pieces, grill and who knows what after he gets the Comet apart.Tim is a great guy and the Comet guys[and Ford guys] have offered to help if they can.I get frustrated with Drag Race Organizers and their B.S.,but the racers themselves are what keep me coming back out to race! I have met people from all over the world through drag racing, people I otherwise would never have had the chance to meet! I will let you know what Tim needs when I know.He lives about 5 hours North of me up by Fresno,CA.,I have his phone numbers.ROY.

I'm still waiting to hear from Tim on the status of his Comet. There is a photo of the frontend on here under March Meet photos. ROY

found that pic of the frontend shot of tims comet. It looks like it can all be fixed.Cant pull the pic over here without being a member of that photo site.I tried joining until they asked for a credit card.

Did Todd And his T-bolt show up at the meet.

    Ken,

If you don't have Sol Stewart's contact info, he posts on FordFE.com (http://www.network54.com/Forum/74182/), so might be able to contact him there.

Ken;The T-Bolts have a great following and an active owners association. The 64-67 Comets never seemed to get that kind of following, even though the 64-65 Comets killed the T-Bolts,lighter,better weight distribution etc.At least the number of Comet freaks is growing! If you talk to Eric ask if he got my e-mail about a 65 for sale,I also have a phone number for another one. ROY.

  27. The Thompson L&M B/FX Comet still survives in "survivor" condition.

I prefer survivor condition anyday over day one restoration.

Where all the 65 B/FX comets red?
