Its a non syncro first gear, thats why. You should be able to rev-match into first.

My 42 Dodge has straight cut gears and no syncros. Double clutch it going up, rev match going down.

  12. Great...thanks.

You both made out alright. I got a soft spot for old ford trucks, something about em. I like em more than cars. Except for 32,33,34 coupes, and sedans:D

  14. Another HAMBer sent me about 200 pic's of '38 Ford trucks. So i'm getting all kinds of ideas. Only gone through 1/3 of them!!!

    Congratulation!
I'm also a sucker for the barrel grill 38's
find the emblems for the hood sides look for a better tail gate.
about the first gear thing.... when you come to a stop get in the habit keeping in second gear when truck is completely stopped pull it into first that way it wont grind. if you at a stop light and its in neutral always put into second gear fist this will keep it from grinding when you put it into
first. it will just take some getting use too.......
I have a million miles on my 39 trans and personally would not trade it for a 4-5 speed trans.

PS. don't second guess the trade..... that truck kicks ASS!

Cool BOB! Love the new truck and the plans sound great! Give Jordan a call for your axle. He'll do a great job!
