i just bought a anglia drag car thats got olds running gear i was told it was a 350 olds i was looking for casting number or letter on the head it has a large j near the front exhaust port wich i think is 73 up 455 ?am i right ? i know nothing about olds stuff the guy told me the motor had a blown head gasket the motor spins over but i havnt tried to start it should i trash it or should i salvage the motor are they any other numbers i need to look for to id it motor looks cool in the car id like to keep it cause its differnt so are these motors decent ???? thanks for the help
"J" sounds like a 455 head. these were smog heads, good chance its a 455 and yes these are good engines. check out the numbers on the block between the water pump and intake manifold... google oldsmobile engine ID...see what you get
