You know, I've had the brochure on my desk for about two years about the USS Lane merchant marine ship. Its got a huge parking lot that it doesn't share with anything else, so it would be a great car cruise-to event. Even if we were just take the tour of the ship would be good enough for me, but they do have the trip where you go out to sea for a few hours, have lunch and then they have "dog-fights" in the air with vintage aircraft.
Also, there's that Russian Submarine to go aboard down there.

Up next, though is a rod run up to the Nethercutt Museum.
I gotta get on the plans for that run...it's all free, no admission and would make a good local run, then grab some lunch somewhere...we'll keep everyone posted when we get a date to meet up and go...

The Harrington was at 5224 Sunset, in between Kingsley and Harvard. It is now a strip mall wiht a 99cent store in it.

Whoa, it certainly does look the same. I spent many years in that neighborhood, as I went to La Salle High School and my (now) wife was up the street at Alverno. :)

Ha...I went to La Salle High School in 1966 for a concert starring a band called "the Byrds". They had just come out with Mr. Tambourine Man".
They would not let the us guys in unless we had a coat and tie on. So, we all had those horrible powder blue jackets and a tie put on for us by our dad's.
