Vintage shots from days gone by!

So was my dad.... and I was born at Memorial hospital. My Grandma was employed there for both occasions I know there's some ardmore hot rodders here I thought maybe they'd come up with some cool old photos too.

Where is this ?

 

I'm almost sure it's Wilshire Blvd. in L.A. where the Petersen Museum is today...it would be looking east, towards downtown L.A.

 

Holy Moly!!! What a shot! You can almost hear, feel and smell it.
Damn...guessing either a McLaren or Chapparel, hard to tell from this angle, but gotta be a big mutha Chevy

 

it's probably wilshire and rossmore vicinity looking east. that aqua building is the Wiltern at Wilshire and Western. and that brick tower is part of a law school.

That's a 1947 Motorette!

The vehicles were primarily designed for use in a mile long aircraft plant but due to their practicality found many other useful roles. It is powered by a one-cylinder 4.1hp air-cooled engine that drives a single wheel that when fully laden will propel the vehicle at 39mph (though it does not have a speedometer) at up to 60 mpg. The body of the Motorette was all aluminum with a channel construction "X" frame chassis and steering is done by what can only be described as oval handlebars.
