That's Matt Alix, around '94, at Holland (NY) Speedway. The No. 74 is Canadian driver Sherri Hogan. Dave Klamut took the photo.

  9. Been years since I saw Frank Hodge. He looks pretty good, fit and trim. He was a good guy and gave a bunch of race fans a lot of entertainment.

Here's some pictires of the original Jarzombek Chevette (with the Chevette body back on it) as it's currently being restored in Harold Seaman's shop in Riverhead, NY.

Harold plans to have it ready for the three day Old Timers extravaganza in May at the Louden, NH mile.

  16. I don't see Cagle anywhere in the picture. The guy holding the helmet sure isn't Cagle. He's about 75+ lbs heavier than the Wiley One.

    Let's see...

Row 1: Guy Chartrand (69, pole), Jim Shampine (8 ball)
    Row 2: Richie Evans(61), Bob Sweeney (42)
Row 3: Lou Lazzaro (4), unsure (looks like the dark green 28, driver's name escapes me)
Row 4: Dick Clark (16), Gary Reddick (V3)
Row 5: Dave Nichols (34), unsure about the red car
Row 6: Bobby Merz (18), Sammy Reakes (451)
Row 7: Not sure of the copper Falcon mod on the inside, looks like Dutch Hoag (7) outside
    Row 8: Jim Covell (21X, former Diffendorf S/360), Roger Burdick (?) (54x)

    That's all I got.

No. There were no Superbird convertables. This is a Roadrunner or GTX convertable with the Superbird wing installed. Notice the lack of Superbird nose. Allstarracing.

Yeah, we had a guy in Buffalo who seemed to have more than his fair share of 'birds, considering only 500 or so were produced. Turns out he was adding noses and wings to Roadrunners and selling them. When did a Superbird leave the factory with air, bucket seats and an AM/FM 8-track? He was soon exposed. But Perry (NY) Raceway DID have a real Dodge Daytona pace car (complete with a checkerboard-painted top).

Dr John, actually, a 440 4 bbl Superbird could have been ordered with air and buckets, and I suspect the radio. Back then, if you knew the right salesman, you could order a lot of strange stuff through the right dealer. I knew a guy (rip) that ordered a 70 Dodge RT convert with a 440 6bbl, 4 speed, and a functioning RT hood with the dual scoops. Turned out to be 1 of 2 Mopar built. Gene

Thanks, I stand corrected. I was told they only came "stripped down." But this guy had a bunch of them and someone who was helping him make these 'birds spilled the beans...
