The third version of Brissette's Fueler was at the CHRR. The Winternationals version is the first as Wild Bill Alexander drove it at this race and at the 1965 Bakersfield.

I am finding out real quick that the expense of building the car is said and done. The real EXPENSE is the maintenance and keep it running like it is suppose too. It is just a Cackle Car on Nitro, but you have to treat it like you have been racing it. So to help support my NEED FOR NITRO, I am selling copies of the Blueprint of my 1964 1/2 Woody Gilmore chassis. There is a Disclaimer attached. $25.00 and $10,00 shipping & handling, PM me if you want to buy one. I also have T-Shirts with this LOGO $15.00 plus $7.00 shipping & handling. Your choice of white.

That was taken Saturday morning. We had a timing problem since the owner put the magneto back in....too retarded. I wonder if there is an uncut version since in the film , it was only running on Alky ! After it was reset right , it was really poppin ! Here are a few Nitro Nadine Pictures. Thanks again

The Rice Scoop came out alittle too narrow at the front, but I like it. How are things with your motor ?

  8. Thanks for asking.

Got the cam timing sorted out today. Turns out my cam has a couple less degrees @ .050 than the timing card says. I put it in a couple of degrees advanced.

I've got the spare dist for the coupe in it powered by a battery charger (while waiting for my mag) so I tried to fire her again. With the cam timing right my Nipondenso starter can't handle the compression. :-/ Putting two batterys in series doesn't help, it just doesn't have the torque needed. If it's not one thing...

I walked away from it about an hour and a half ago and put a bunch of rounds through my Mosin Nagant rifle. I feel better now and am researching a starter solution. :)

    Hey! Roger,

Here are a couple of pics from the Winternats. Sorry I haven't posted them sooner. It was GREAT to meet you! I want to THANK YOU very much for letting me join you in your display area, spending some time with me, and sharing info on your racecar. You made me feel very welcome. THANKS!!!

The last pic is a cropped version of the first pic. I use it as my desktop wallpaper. I hope I get to see you and your fine machine again real soon. Tho' I probably could've seen you at Bakersfield in March. I could not make that event. I'll PM you concerning the '64 1/2 Woody plans and a T-Shirt, I'm interested in both.

For whatever reason this first attempt to post the pics failed. The second time worked. The above mentioned pics appear in the next post. SORRY for the confusion.

Thanks Again! Have A Nice Day!!!

No! Thank You! I had a absolute BLAST hangin' out with you!

The new scoop is ffff'n COOL!

It looks like you clocked the fuel pump back to horizontal. You were workin' on that when we first met.

By the way the pic on the right is KILLER! Loaded with ATTITUDE! Bitchin'!

More timing + more Pop = MORE POP! Awesome! I understand THAT math! Can't wait to hear it! Didn't get to hear it at the Winternats. My timing was off! hahahah!

SeeYa'! Have A Great Day!!! Keith

Another transformation into a version of Jim Brissette's Woody Fueler that never was. So I call it the "Tribute Version" to Jim Brissette, Woody Gilmore and all the Top Fuel racers in the mid 1960s. Sorry for the bad pictures.

In the June issue of Hot Rod Magazine there is event coverage from the Winternationals of the Golden 50 Historical Car Corral. Thanks to Dave Wallace, Jr. for the great article. We had a very memoriable time. The first picture is the Holeshot that Wild Bill Alexander put on the Snake in the Hawaiian in the Finals for Top Fuel Eliminator at the 1965 Winternationals. At the 1965 Winternationals, ABC Wide World of Sports was televising the race. The power to run their TV cameras was thought to effect the land line power system and the Pomona track power was down on power which may have cause alot of Red Lights during elimination. So in the final, Jim Brissette told Alexander to GO FOR IT, cut a good light and Prudhomme would most likely make sure he didn't Red Light. Alexander got the Holeshot, but Prudhomme drove around him, burned a bunch of pistons, got oiled in and won the race. When it is the last round, there is no tomorrow and you go for the Win.

I finished my new fuel tank that will hold 5 gallons of Fire Water ! Washed it out with a gallon of Marvel Mystery Oil, prayed for no leaks kneeling on a red shop rag and no leakers. I gave myself a grade of ''B" on how it came out, because this is my first attempt at this and it is 18 gauge steel and since I can't weld, it is Silver Soldered together.

I used what I had in my garage to form the main body of the tank. 5'' vise, 2 pieces of 1/8 x 2 x 2 steel angle @ 24'' long, 2 sets of vice grips and a 25'' wood 2 x 4 made up my bender. On my belt sander I formed a corner dollie out of 1 x 2 x 6'' aluminum bar to hammer form the end plate corners and radiuses to overlap the hammered formed step on the ends of the main tank body. The main tank body seam is on the botton side of the "V" shaped bottom. I then used a propane torch, liquid solder flux and silver solder to first attach the corners of the end plates and then soldering the seams next. I solder opposite side seams not to build up too much heat and let it cool down before continuing. I then cleaned up the solder joints with the belt sander, files, 240 grit sanding disc and finished the whole tank off with a red Scotchbite pad. Gibbs oil was applied to the outside surface to stop the rusting.

    Hey Roger!

NICE work! I still think it's cool that you use home made tools. I learned a long time ago, to do with what you got. There's more satisfaction doing it yourself.

Take Care!! Have A Great Day!!! Gas is for washin' parts!!!!
